|
|
Has anyone else noticed their speed being slower when using their router?
I am only getting 500kbps through mine and can get 800 to 900 when I connect my phone/modem direct to my laptop.
I am using a Sony Vaio with XP 2 and release 1.7.0 on the router. I am getting an excellent signal from the Cradlepoint 350 router.
Any ideals? |

Well I don't know why it would make any difference but I deleted a remembered MAC address for a printer that I never got to work. Now my speed has increased a couple hundred kbps.
But it is still a couple hundred kbps less than a direct connection. |

| Well first thing you should do in this case is update the firmware. 1.7.1 is the latest, not counting the 1.7.3 beta firmware. |

| The update procedure says that 1.7.0 is the latest. The 3G store is the only one to have newer releases . The online update will probably release it in the next couple of months. |

My speeds are identical with the CTR-350 vs direct USB for my 595U.
1.7.3 firmware. |

Ok I have great speeds now.
I reloaded my CTR 350 and that improved it some, but the biggest help was when Alltel upgraded my software in my phone. I'm not sure what it was. I had 30029 in the phone before and after the update, but what a difference. I had to take it to the store to get it done, they said that was the only way to do it.
The above posted speed is through the router and it's the same to a couple different sites. |

1.7.3 firmware. |
My speeds are actually better through my PHS300 vs direct, probably because it uses WiPipe Technology |

| My experience with speed measurement sites is that they are highly variable. When comparing speeds I always do 10 runs and use the median for comparison. |

| Maybe keep in mind that where the modem is can make a huge difference in the reception/through put. If one or the other gives better numbers, maybe it is a location issue. |

| Hi - I just discovered this forum - I'm using a Sierra 595u with the PHS300 and the latest firmware -- When the 595u is connected to the PC download speeds are pretty close to 950kb/s on a moderate signal (e.g. 3 bars on a scale of 1 to 5 on the 595u) but through the router speeds are <400kb/s -- I called support at Cradlepoint and they suggested that a signal on the 595u less than 4 bars is the reason for the slower speeds through the router ... That doesn't make sense to me but until I am in a location with a stronger signal I won't be able to verify. (The signal strength between the router and the laptop is excellent) |
