I just bought the KR1 from Kyocera online. There is a sticker on the bottom of the unit saying it has firmware v1.002. I couldn't get a constant connection when I tried connecting with the 5750. I used the 5750 alone in my laptop to download firmware v1.011 and tried to install it on the KR1. The upgraded f/w only installs part way. The compter hangs up during install for over 30 minutes. Now the KR1 does not work at all even if I try to reinstall the original firmware. I will be calling Kyocera tomorrow for an RMA and returning the KR1 to them. What an incredible disappointment the KR1 is. I purchased the 5750 from Verizon in November to use while RVing this winter in Florida because it is supposed to be compatible with the KR1. Obviously that is not the case. Sad

there was a time when the pc5750 ha no issues with the KR1.
but something changed in hardware of the PC5750 and/or the KR1 and many found that the KR1 could not work with the PC5750 if wifi was turned on for the KR1.

while neither linksys or sprint will support the Linksys 3G Sprint router for use on the verizon network, many 3gstore customers have bought it and 3gstore provides support for the pc5750 and linksys.

I spent over an hour on the phone yesterday with D-Link tech support. I had already downloaded f/w 1.011 but could not get it to upload to the router. No matter how much tweaking we need to my internet connection, 192.168.0.1, nor anything even close would successfully upload the newest f/w to my router. I even tried using FireFox instead of IE 7, with the loader file, all without success. The tech stated quite emphatically that the KR-1 was compatible with the KR-1 but he could not explain why the newest f/w would not upload.

In any event, after almost 5 days of frustration with the KR-1, it is going back to Kyocera via FedEx tomorrow. Good riddence too, is all I can say.

Kyocera tech support was very good though.....just couldn't solve my problem. He even called me back to see how things were going instead of my having to rack up minutes on my cell phone, which I thought was pretty good.

Now the big question, which would be the best mobile router, other than Kyocera of course, to use with my PC5750? I am on the road in a motorhome and a mobile router would be real handy to have.

All suggestions greatly appreciated.

Thank you

I believe the Linksys WRT54G3G-ST 3G EVDO Router is what you're looking for. You can order it from 3GStore right here.
