Well so far the KR1 and USB 720 have performed flawlessly for me. I do have a few questions though. A huge thanks to the folks at the 3G Store!

Where I am now on the central coast (Morro Bay Ca.) sometimes the the connection says "EVDO 3G" and sometimes it lists the name of the modem " Novatel-Ovation-U720". I know we do NOT have the EVDO Rev A here yet, but it's coming, They told me I'd probably see testing beginning soon, but it has not happened yet. Recently I was in the central valley where I enjoyed full EVDO Rev A speeds up to 1.5 MB.

In the past if you were not in a broadband area you simple got the 1x National Access. What's the difference here between the National Access and the EVDO 3G"? here my speeds are around 120 download which would be consistent with the "National Access (1x).

Just trying to get a clear picture on things here. Thanks!

Tony

The name of the device shown on the status page of the KR1 GUI is not dependant upon the service to which you are connected (EVDO or 1X). It is simply the name of the device driver the router has loaded to enable your EVDO device. If it says EVDO 3G, that means the router has not fully loaded or recognized your device. It can take upwards of 75 seconds for this to occur once you apply power to the router. KR1 does not show whether you're connected to NationalAccess (1X) or BroadbandAccess (EVDO).

Thanks Mackieman..

Thats pretty much what I thought. I know by my speeds I'm not Broadband here yet, but the local office says I should see testing soon and to watch my phone (Verizon) and when the evdo shows up they're testing and supposedly will be fully on line with the broadband by March 1st. The speeds in the meantime are bearable. I sure enjoyed the 1.5 MB speeds while in the valley though so really looking forward to it. Thanks again...
