Wondering about the error messages I get when loading it on my Ubuntu box. The modem and connection still works at nice speeds, but is this normal? Would it be faster if it COULD find sprintconfig? How could that file have been erased when it's a read only device?

Thanks in advance for any help

That connect program supplied by Franklin is a bit buggy, isn't it? What I've been doing is:

1. If the device is not in modem mode (gnome-ppp can't detect the modem) run umount /dev/sd? and then sudo ./itfchg /dev/sd? where ? is the drive letter for the modem (looks likes its c for you, but this changes depending on other usb devices that are connected and in which order).

2. Using gnome-ppp to connect. Gnome-ppp is setup as follows: user name and pasword are arbitrary nonempty strings--put something there so gnome-ppp won't hang waiting for input. Phone number is #777. Under the setup->modem tab, device is set to /dev/ttyACM0, type is set to USB modem, speed to 921600. In the setup->networking tab, dynamic IP address and automatic dns are selected, and under the setup-> options tab everything is checked except for auto reconnect and send custom reply. I think the only important entry here is ignore terminal strings (stupid mode).

One problem, last I knew gnome-ppp had a bug where after connecting, it would hang with the message "connecting..." Everything with the connection worked fine, but that notification hanging around was annoying. There is an easy patch if you go this route.
