|
|
| Has anyone else used the antenna adapter sold by 3gstore.com with the Alltel version of the KPC680? I'm interested in your results if so, I have purchased the KPC680 antenna adapter and have found that I need to put the antenna adapter in the opposite port than what is recommended for the device to connect. |

| Same here, I need to go back and check the db before and after to see if it is even having an effect. Must be a firmware reason for this not working the same as 3gstore says in the review. |

| I wrote a reply last week, but the site said it was captured by the spam blocker - I had essentially the same problem. Just got the real adapter from kyocera, and it works great! Looks nothing like the adapters from 3g, wilson, or maximum signal (I've tried them all, and none work in the lateral antenna port, only in the center one.) The real adapter is unusual - the business end looks like a round end, but there is a springed sliding sheath over the end that pushes back when inserted. Also, there are small pins on the adapter so that it actually fits solidly in the plastic clip, and is actually easy to insert, as opposed to the other aftermarket adapters. Went from rssi's of 113-125 to mid 80's with amp and antenna. Works even better when both ports are hooked up to amps and antennas, but I haven't found any documentation as to how this should reallly be hooked up. |

Didn't know that the adapter was available from Kyocera yet, had signed up for email notification but hadn't received one. I have ordered the adapter from Kyocera, hopefully I will have the same improvements that you have.
I was kinda worried when I received the adapter from 3gstore and it said on it "For Verizon use only". |

I just got a KPC680 off eBay and for the life of me I don't see where you all are plugging in the adapter? There are no holes on the end of mine. Does that cover just below the blue Kyocera label come off or something? |

| The lateral hole is the main send / recieve antenna port. The middle port is a recieve only port that can be used to increase download rates (using both is reported to increase the signal strength over what you can get with one antenna - the same reason that the card has 2 built in antennas, the external one that you flip up, and an independent recieve only antenna internally), according to Kyocera documentation. |

| Presently using a 14 db Wilson yagi and another old yagi, and also sometimes a wilson trucker (omni), but the yagi's have given me the best rssi and download speeds (though hard to really tell as they are so inconsistent around here). Just google wison cellular antennas - lots of sites sell them as well as the company site. |

Actually, I'm talking about the "real adapter" that "looks nothing like the wilson".
Thanks. |

Any updates?
Where did you purchase the adapter cable from? If possible, please provide the website, etc.
I am having the same problem with the aftermarket cables and I am not seeing a signal boost as a result. |

| Just go to the Kyocera website - you can get several different connectors for the antenna end. |
