I have a mac book pro. I'm going to buy a Rev-A card and a router to go with it. I'd like to use the card on my mac book pro and the router. Should I be buying a sprint novatel EX720 expresscard and waiting for the kyocera KR2? Or is there a better combination?

if you plan on spending a LOT of time with device directly connected to the MBP, you will prolly prefer aesthetics of expresscard in slot.

in which case, just get the CTR350 or PHS300 with usb-to-expresscard adapter. (click links for product combos)

if you do NOT plan on spending a lot of time with device in/on laptop, and instead will see majority of time with device on router, then my suggestion is the Franklin CDU680 with either CTR350 or PHS300 (again, click links for more info)

in either case, for the best Mac+EVDO support, get it all from 3gstore! Wink

I just bought a new iMac and have an older ibook, which I used a Kyocera card on.

I'm wondering what I should buy for my new iMac and that will also still go on my ibook.

I have Verizon service and believe I am in a Rev A area.

BTW, I will purchase from 3Gstore Very Happy

Thanks

Kim

if it were my money, i'd buy the USB720 or USB727 (a bit smaller, and has MicroSD card slot).

we at 3gstore look forward to serving you as our customer! Wink

Hey Alex, does your recommending the USB727 in this case mean that the slow-download/fast-upload anomaly with that card and its Mac-required VZAccess 3.7.0 (which I described and later Michael also described in the "Help..." thread) has been resolved--at least essentially, or...?

When I wrote to 3G as Michael suggested, Torrey replied that you were contacting the Verizon software developers about the issue and would follow up with me when they got back to you with something, so I thought I'd write to you here and at support, in case the issue has been resolved and someone just forgot to let me know in all the holiday goings on--regarding which, yall please have a good one, the best ever. Smile

actually, i still prefer the USB720 (i mentioned it first) because apple WWAN drivers should still allow a mac user to get away from VZAM.

whatever issue that may be getting introduced by vzam, should eventually be discovered and resolved.

So, since the Cradlepoint has come along for the router aspect of the setup, if I decided to go with USB rather than PCMCIA in order to have versatile mobility with my iBooks as well as Powebooks, I could do the USB720 and never mind VZAM? I assume so from what you said, of course; it's just that I couldn't connect when I tried to set up a profile after uninstalling VZAM during my recent test drive--probably a simple trick I didn't know about--and I'm just double checking. Thanks.

The USB720 / CTR350 is an excellent combination, and 3gstore tech support can help its customers get around USB720/VZAM issues.

using OSX WWAN drivers is better for almost all but the most novice mac users.

OK! I'll take that as another yes and no, a la Alex Wink, and construe this with the other responses to mean what they obviously mean. This has been illuminating and helpful; I'm glad finally to know which door to choose, and I appreciate your showing it to me. Laughing

Yall deck those halls, now--and be good for goodness sake,

A top secret advantage of the USB modem over the ExpressCard modem is that the USB can be used with any computer with a USB port, desktop or laptop (with appropriate drivers, etc).

I was hesitant at first to go with the 720 but now its extension cable is seen as a great benefit allowing me to surmount obstacles in the room that might be between me and the tower.

I will add the new Cradlepoint router soon and a jet engine for my Honda Element and 24 inch tires....
