|
|
Our strategic partnership with Cradlepoint has gotten us CTR350 Router firmware that enables ethernet port for use as LAN port, allowing desktop computers and other devices without WiFi, to connect to the CTR350 router via ethernet cable!
Read our full announcement at: http://www.evdoinfo.com/content/view/2211/64/
Starting today, all customers who buy their CTR350 from 3GStore.com will get the firmware on a CD we provide.
Customers who have bought their CTR350 from 3gstore in the past and want the firmware should email their invoice number to sales@ 3gstore.com and ask for instructions on how to get the firmware.
This firmware is a "custom build" for 3Gstore and has not yet received a full QA cycle by Cradlepoint. For this reason, Cradlepoint will NOT be releasing this special firmware until it has gone through a full QA cycle, sometime early 2008 and will not provide support for it.
Until Cradlepoint officially releases the firmware to the public, only customers of 3Gstore.com can get the firmware or tech support for it.

So this will allow the desktop to connect to the router/internet via ethernet while allowing the laptop to connect via the Linksys Wireless-G SRX card?
(I take it my Linksys Wireless G SRX router is no longer needed and will become a new paperweight in my office?)
This would be awesome. Now if Sprint would provide more bandwidth so I can finally achieve the mythical speeds they hinted at, I'll be happy as a pig in sh*t.

Does this also support the UM-150 (Ethernet as LAN and the UM150)?
Is the Ethernet as LAN or WAN configurable? Or LAN only? |

Yes, it supports the UM150 as well.
Currently it is not configurable, BUT...
Here is how it works. On startup, it senses if you have an uplink plugged in. If you do, it works the old way, if it doesn't it automatically switches over to LAN. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

Here are the specifics on the use of the Ethernet Port from CradlePoint:
| Quote: | To make sure that everyone is clear on how LAN functionality works in the Beta Firmware that the 3Gstore is distributing, here is an explanation of how the LAN port is activated
If a CTR350 is configured so that it's WAN port is set to PPP, the router will switch the Ethernet port to a LAN port after approximately 15 seconds.
If the WAN port is configured with either Static, or DHCP options selected, then the LAN port will not be activated. |

I bought my CTR-350 before 3gstore offered it. So I can't get this? Or maybe Cradlepoint will give if I ask nicely?

This is sweet! Well, you can let the folks at CradlePoint know that there's at least one person who was swayed their direction after hearing this news. I just placed my order for a CTR-350 this morning. I'm quite happy that I won't need to worry about purchasing an Ethernet Converter for any hard wired machines.
An EVDO tower was recently built less then a mile from my house. After being stuck on dialup for the past 7 years (I live in the boonies), I'm quite happy to finally be able to modernize the home network. The CTR-350 should be great. I just ordered EVDO broadband from a provider that I discovered on dslreports.com. Once my router and CDU680 arrive, I should be good to go! |

| The new firmware works great! I plugged in my Belkin Pre-N router, changed setting to PPoE and BAM! a very wide area LAN. Speeds are great, the Cradlepoint is rock solid and I have the whole house connected. Could'nt be happier. Thanks 3Gstore and Cradlepoint for making a great product even better. |

Now this is cool. Exactly what I needed. Thanks for listening guys!
I am ordering an unit to demo to our WAN clients.
Who do I talk to about wholesale/for resale purchases? |

What CradlePoint CTR350 firmware version is needed to support the Verizon UM150 modem?
I just purchased the CradlePoint CTR350 and the usb light does not stay lit after powering the unit on. I can only surmise that firmware version 1.7.1 does not support the Verizon UM150 modem. |
