I have a yagi antenna, 9113 cable, wilson dual band amplifier.
On the cell phone hooked up I am getting 5 bars, EV.
So ordered the Verizon UM150 and hooked everything up to this. It is showing full signal but the problem lies in the fact I am only getting National Access. 75 dbm. Technical support only looks at their maps and it shows marginal signal but they upgraded their antennas to EV but was hopeing someone would tell me why I am not getting broadband when I can assume EV means broadband. With full 5 bar signal I should get it or I assumed.
Ieven put up another antenna, hooked the two signal bands together via a splitter did not change anything, so disconnected the 1900, no signal difference.

On this problem finally got a Verizon rep that called me back, said that the EVDO signal is our area is only set for phones not for data.
I just packed the thing back up and sent it back to Verizon.
I did not see your post in time but saved it and will apply it if and when I try to use a modem again. It is so flustrating, we are sitting right in the middle of poor signal and service, the amish north of us has wonderful service (EV data and phone) signal, they use cell phones but they have 5 bars of EV signal and no amps needed. they can't even own a computer, go figure. No I can not use another carrier, no service from them either, sitting in the midle of a great big white nothing although we have 2 Verizon stores in our little 12,000 pop. town. They get the money from everyone, good return on capital, no expenditures. |

Hmmm - I was unaware that EVDO signal could be specific to data or voice. Good luck either way.
I am in a similar signal environment as you, only my neighbors are Sasquatch, not the Amish _________________ Further... |

Had the similar problem last summer with Verizon.
My Razr showed strong EVDO signal, but the map showed closest EVDO tower about 20 miles away.
I still ordered a datacard and had great REV A speed .... for a month. then they pushed a new prl and I could only connect to National access.
VZ TS was telling me that the tower I was connected was not a Verizon tower (and Antennasearch showed Alltel only too). When I pointed out that my Razr still shows EVDO at near full signal strength, I was told the razr must be picking up the signal from 20 miles away ... sure
Anyway now the map shows me in REV A. So ordered again a datacard and it works like a dream.
It looks like they had the tower testrun for some time, then they was hiding it from the datacards until they was ready to put it official online |
