I was wondering if anybody knows of a rock solid combination of Rev-A card and the KR1 router.

I have Verizon service and am currently using the KR1 with KPC680. I upgraded from the KPC650 two weeks ago, but the combination is not stable. It works, but you have to shut the wireless off to get better speeds, the external antenna adapter is flimzy to the point that I dont think it works well at all, and the router needed to be hard booted a few times a day. So I'm switching back to the KPC650 card which works great.

I'm looking for a Rev-A card that is stable and reliable, and has an external antenna port. I guess the form factor does not matter since I have a PCMCIA slot in the laptop and the Novatel ExpressCard to PCMCIA Adapter.

Thank you for any advice...

Ok...Thanks a lot. I'm definitely sending back the KPC680, and now I'm going to get the USB720. Thanks for the advice.

we know it works without issue.

the aircard 595 and v740 are known to not work.

the kpc680's we've tested, do not work, no matter what adapter we try.

some folks have reported success with their kpc680, but with wifi off on kr1.

same with pc5750... some can get it to work, and mostly when wifi on kr1 is turned off.

the usb720, just works.

I need to provide Internet access to a group of users in a hotel in Las Vegas during CES. Is the KR1/USB720 the best EVDO solution available? I can buy any router and any EVDO card. I'm also considering the Omni External antenna.

No, the KR1/USB720 is a good combination, but nowhere near "the best" anymore.

If it were my money, i'd get the Franklin CDU680 and the Cradlepoint PHS300 and use the Sprint network in Vegas.

and you wouldn't need an omni external, thats a 32" whip that doesn't travel well. the booster antenna for the CDU680 should be all you need.

order it all from https://3gstore.com/sprint/franklin.php

So, if Verizon is my only choice, is the USB720 the best Rev. A option to use with the KR1? I prefer a PC card vs. USB, but it would appear that my KPC650 crapped out here in Vegas and I do have a V740 with adapter, but it doesn't appear that the KR1 plays well with V740/express card adapter.
