|
|
Last Friday, I received a new Dell XPS with a 5720 Sprint card. I had an existing Sprint account with a PCMCIA card on an old notebook. Sprint transferred my account from that card to the new embedded card, but the new card will not take on the activation. The activation process starts and will not stop at all. Have been on the phone endless hours with both Sprint and Dell advanced support. Both the card driver and utility have been uninstalled and re-installed. Dell even replaced the card with another one and no dice. Neither seems to find a problem on their side and each is blaming the other for a glitch.
Could this be an account transfer problem? Did anyone else have this problem? Someone at Dell suggested a new account with Sprint might work. TIA |

lol, I see you've met Sprint's data tech support..yes, I hate them too.. btw it's Sprint that's behind the network problem and yes it is related to that ESN swap. |

A few days after I posted the above, my Sprint account representative came to my office and called upper tech support and had the problem resolved. I was told the modem had to be reset. Not sure how that's done, however.
The Dell and the Sprint EV-DO service have been working like a charm every day since then. |

| glad to hear the problem was resolved. and yes when it does work it's the greatest and generally will work with no problems, with the exception of the occasional network hiccup which a error 678 may occur. |
