i've had this card for awhile and live in a remote area. this was my only choice. it works well and i use it for online gaming, (World of Warcraft). however, i am planning on getting an xbox 360, and am wondering if it is worth the money for me to play on xbox live with it. i don't want to buy it and then keep getting disconnected. anyone know?

I have little experience with this, but I'll be watching the thread to see the opinions of more experienced users.

I will say this: I recently played WoW over my Rev 0 connection, and it was pretty playable, although the connection indicator in the game usually was flashing red, indicating that the ping was too high. Occasionally it did hiccup too, but usually it was okay.

However, if you're going to play a more demanding game like a first person shooter, I have to believe that you're going to be pretty challenged unless your pings are sub 200...something that is apparently possible, but far from common even with Rev A.

It will likely work, but it will be rather like Johnson's decription of a dog walking on its hind legs: "it is not done well, but you're surprised to see it done at all."

I play FPS games using a Rev A. connection and it works great. The ping rates are around 200ms but have know issues of playing online with 360. I do stress that Rev A. is almost a must though. I have went as far as being able to have 4 people on the same connection playing FPS with no trouble. Also you know that you have 30 days risk free to try out there broadband service from VZ? Hope this helps.

I have Rev 0, and it works ok for FPS. I play Halo 3, COD 4, Rainbow 6 Vegas, and GRAW2 with very few problems. GRAW2 is probably the most problematic of the group.

I moved from Wildblue Sat. ( pings 600-1200ms) where any live gaming was virtually unplayable, to Verizon EVDO Rev A ( pings 100-125ms) where gaming works very well. And that's from the X-Box 360 running on wi-fi across the house to a Linksys WRT54G3G-ST.

Go check your speed out at www.speedtest.net and see what kind of pings you are running. I agree with everyone else that if you're 250ms or below, it should be enjoyable.

These are my results with this browser open as well and using the same wi-fi as the X-Box:
