|
I've navigated to this site hoping to find some tips on increasing my speed. Currently my DL speed averages between 100-250kbs, with an UP about the same. I don't understand this, but it's quite frustrating. Streaming videos take forever, downloads are commonly between 6-12Kb/s, sometimes going down to 3 or lower. I've searched around this site many times, hoping to find others with a similar problem, but I haven't found any topics related. I've tried the supercharged EVDO tip, and even though it does increase speed, it's only a small amount. Anybody that had a similar problem, or anybody with some tips on how to solve this, please share. It's pretty frustrating to pay $60/mo on this service when dial-up is faster. It's expensive, especially on a military budget.
These are my specs:
Laptop: WinXP, 2GB RAM, AMD Turion 64 X2 2GHz, Verizon WWAN PC Card 5750
Signal: 3-4 Bars, 75 - 82 dBm, Broadband Access Rev-A |

I'm a bit of a noob myself, but I'm going to be watching this thread for answers.
Meanwhile, you may wish to get some test results from some speed test sites and post here.
dslreports has many, but speedtest.net is a good place to start.
cheers,

Dang, that is slow. But whats weirder is that your getting 75-82 dbm's at 3-4 bars and I'm getting my self (PX-500) on average 4-6 bars in Rev-A but can't get any lower than -83 dbm's. I just recently tested my DL and UL speeds via speedguide.net and I got a 964kbps DL and an UL of 227 kbps. I've never gotten that high of DL speed before when I've done the speakeasy.net tests and your pc is way faster than my dell inspiron 6000 w/XP & 1.3ghz and 256mb ram. I'm sure someone will be able help you here. I'd like to increase my speeds too if possible. BTW , I haven't tried any tweaking whatsoever either. |
