ok so i have looked at other posts,
how can i tell what pc card i have in my computer?

i have a dell latitude d531

on one page of the specs of the computer it says
PC Card:
One Type I or Type II

but then on another page of the computer specs it says:

External mobile broadband access enabled via Express PC card

i am looking into getting EVDO service, i currently have a verizon cell phone and i am about 1 mile from the verizon tower, so i am looking into getting a verizon card. however i dont want to purchase the wrong card.

someone please help, thanks

That laptop has a PCMCIA card slot, as well as USB.

as a result, you really cannot buy the 'wrong card'.

you can use verizon's PC5750 or AC595 pcmcia cards.

you can use verizon's v740 or kpc680 expresscards, by getting the novatel adapter

and of course, you could use either of verizon's four (!) usb modems.

naturally, now you want to know which is the best EVDO device? right? figures.

if you plan on getting a new laptop in next two years, you probably want to get either USB or ExpressCard because most newer laptops no longer have the pcmcia slot.

if it were my money, i'd be buying the v740 for $69.99 on a 2yr plan through 3gstore and get it with novatel adapter.

yah i would like to get the v740, but on the order page it says backordered. do you know if that v740 and the adapter that you guys sell, will that work with that linksys WRT54G3G-st router? what i''d like to do is be able to use this wireless card in my laptop, and then when i get home plug it in the router so i have internet access everywhere i go. please let me know if this is possible. also if i plug in my zip code on the verizon coverage map, it only shows \"green\" which says Enhanced Services however i get 3 bars of EV on my phone and i can connect to vcast videos. perhaps verizon hasnt updated their service map. what is the deal with that want the fast evdo. i think i just noticed the ev bars recently too. maybe within the past couple months. could that have anything to do with it. thanks

at this moment, we have 2 v740 cards reserved for sale to customers ordering with contract.
if you placed an order before 2pm central, one of those could be yours. use this form: https://3gstore.com/verizon/cards.php

no, the v740 will NOT work with Linksys router.

the v740 works GREAT with cradlepoint router, when used with usb adapter:

yes, its entirely possible verizon has not updated coverage maps yet, or is not ready to make final announcement because they are still testing network at your location.

nice thanks for the info.

now i have another question. what about that new router you guys are getting, is that worth it to wait for that one? that PHS300 ?
will it have the same interface as the CradlePoint CTR-350 ?

my main question about these routers are 1)do they have port forwarding and 2)will i be able to make direct connections (like with peer to peer software) if i use this, and 3)do you think that the ctr-350 will ever have a firmware change to be able to use the ethernet port as an output port?

i already have a really nice linksys router flashed with dd-wrt and i love how i can fine tune everything for my wireless network. That was the reason i was asking about that linksys router in the first place. but it looks like someone has the v740 card working with the open wrt white russian firmware. does that white russian firmware have port forwarding enabled? i know that another person is working on the open wrt for that router but it seems that many users are reporting that the port forwarding is broken.

i guess the reason that one router looks neat is that it has its own battery. but if i am using my laptop with that usb xpress converter, can i just plug that usb port directly into the laptop and have the internet work that way? i know that will drain the battery a little more but oh well.

oh one more question is, if i get the v740 and that usb adapter thing, will i even be able to hook up a booster antenna to the card? thats an important question there too

also, if i order service from you will it be on the same bill as my verizon cell phone? and i am already getting a discount of 15% a month for where i work but i really dont want to go through the hassle of having to fill out all of that paperwork again, will this just go on my bill and i'll automatically get that discount on this as well?

sorry about all of the questions, hope to see your reply soon, thanks

since you are hoping for ethernet LAN port, i'd get the CTR350.

yes, yes, and yes (just don't know when. we need more people speaking up!)

for the record, we are not familiar with, nor do we support/sell that firmware.

yes, you can use the expresscard on any computer with USB port, using that adapter.

yes, of course. in fact, the picture above shows the v740 in the usb adapter, and still has the antenna adapter cable attached to v740.
(its the plug stuck into v740 at bottom left of picture)

yes, it will be on same bill. however its highly likely that your discount ONLY applies to voice plan, and does not carry over to data plan you need for the V740. maybe, but not likely.

if it were my money, i'd be buying the v740 for $69.99 on a 2yr plan through 3gstore

i looked up on the site to order but it says 99.99 with a 2 year plan
is the website incorrect?

and does that free booster antenna have to be mounted outside your house? or just next to this setup

i think i will get that ctr350 router

oh and i called verizon and they said i would get the discount on the service because i have the discount on my access plan so whatever total is the discount would be taken from

and for the activation thing, is it best if you guys activate it?

and what are the differences in shipping costs? i would like to have this by friday/sat i think.

i'm guessing you would rather have this done through your form because then you can put in the information to 'combine accounts' for your verizon account, which is what i would have to do to keep my monthly discount

ok well hopefully i hear back from you, thanks for all the help, thats one of the main reasons i want to do business with you (and the free booster antenna is a nice bonus too)

unfortunately, the price changed back to $99.99 yesterday.

its an indoor/portable. only has 3ft cable. so next to the setup.

excellent news!

cannot hurt to have us make sure the v740 is working properly before it leaves us.

fedex ground, 2nd day or overnight. signature required.
2nd day should safely get it to you in time.

absolutely. use the online order form
