Fortunately Sprint left the old version of SCM on sprint.com/downloads. Might want to download the new and old in case you need to go back to the old one.

Here are direct links of the old SCM in case they take if off the menu..

I ditched my new SCM; little did I know, it doesn't allow you do change the HA (if you do, then it'll screw up and you'll have to reactivate your card).

I'm sorry, but that's a feature that I use way too much.

Bytemobile? It sucks, to say the least, and that's the biggest feature of the new SCM....there's a few other interesting options, but I refuse to give up the ability to change my HA.

Ditching it as well. Changed my HA in it and wound up getting my account locked out. Took a quick phone call to techs and he reset the account and card. Could not change the EVDO mode or lock it in it. Tech reported other issues with it and has strongly suggested that we go back to the old version.

I have a 595U on Vista. With the Sierra CM I was always able to ##MSL, enter my MSL code and get to the PST. I was able to do it with the previous version of the Sprint CM as well.

However, with this new version when I enter ##MSL and then enter my six-digit MSL the PST never comes up. I've tried uninstalling & reinstalling a few times to no avail. Also tried a ##RTN of the card and then reprogrammed it. Still no dice with the ##MSL.

All of the other ## codes work fine. Just no ##MSL.

Then I reinstalled the Sierra CM and once again ##MSL worked just fine, so I have to assume it's a problem with this version of the Sprint CM.

Can anyone else with the 595U or any other card try this and see if it works for them?

Oh, one other thing--in the ##DEBUG screen EV-DO shows up as "Not Authenticated" (I am in a Rev A area--not sure if that matters) but I am connecting at and getting EV-DO speeds. Even after master reset and reprogramming the ##DEBUG screen still shows Not Authenticated, so I'm not sure what to make of it.

The Sprint CM looks great, but that's about it--I'm going back to the Sierra CM.

Failure. I tried the newest version with bytemoble installed and uninstalled. While it does work, after awhile I would have to disconnect and reconnect for my internet to work. For some reason I could not browse after a short period of time being connected. After I reconnect everything would work again. I thought it might be the bytemoble, so I uninstalled the bytemoble, but I had the same problem. I am now using the previous version.

I had the same problem. I am using a Pantech px500 card and I downloaded the new CM and I ditched it and went back to the old one. I was running it on Windows XP.

Have multiple devices, all Sprint service: S720, U727, 595U, BB8830.

Had the new SCM for Sierra devices – along with each Novatel device SCM and PAM. New all-in-one SCM upgraded the previous Sierra SCM version.

Installed without ByteMobile on XP.

New SCM did not work initially for S720 – had to remove device and restart before initialization was successful. Speedtest.net showing 1246kb / 308kb. U727 was 901kb / 459kb. Have not tested 595U yet. New SCM did not appear to have PAM included as BB8830 was not recognized.

Have not been able to initialize the old ## menu’s with the new SCM. How are you accessing them?

1.Hey guys, I was able to change my HA without any problems, I think?
2. You are allowed something like 9 diffrent HA Profiles. I have only 1 Profile activated.
3. But I do not know how to verrify What HA is connected? I do not see any feedback when SCM is connected to the net, telling me which Ha is activated.
4. Maybe sprint should stram line the HA's.
a. When you load the updated SCM, the application updates the
HA addresses.
b. It would be nice if you could select any of the HA address
Profiles with SCM, with out having to type ##debug.
5. What happens if you have more then 1 HA address Profile activated? Maybe that is why your card got locked out?

You can confirm if HA changed by looking at the "area#"...
http://www.dslreports.com/mspeed?whoami=1&w=

That is, if you changed the HA to a different area#.

1. Well after seeing what other users were reporting I decided to go into the HA Address interface in the new SCM. To my surprise, The Ha Address That I inported, were replaced with the one that came with the new SCM. This HA address is not located in the stickey with the various other HA addresses.
2. There are multiple profiles, and the first 2 Profiles (Profile 0, and Profile1) are both enabled, they have diffrent users names :

Profile 0 User NAI: (XXXXXXX@hcm.sprintpcs.com)
Primary HA: 68.28.15.12 <----- (not on the HA Database)
Secndry HA: 68.28.31.12 <----- (not on the HA Database)

Profile 1 User NAI: (My name@sprintpcs.com)
Primary HA: 68.28.15.12 <----- (not on the HA Database)
Secondary HA: 68.28.31.12 <----- (not on the HA Database)

3. Seems odd that they have the same HA addresses.
4. I dissabled both HA Addresses, Saved the profile, then clicked connect and SCM still connected to internet.
5. So I dissconnected from the net and opened up the HA interface again, to find that both profiles were enabled without me enabling them except to connect to the network.
6. Last night I populated all 9 HA profiles with diffrent HA addresses that seemed to work well for me. ( I left the default Ha Profiles alone, except to disable them).
7. When I went into the HA Address profiles tonight for the first time, all the other profiles were depopulated and none of them were enabled. (even though I only had one pro enabled).
8. Seems to me that there is something that is forcing the first 2 profiles to the enabled state. Also it seems like something in the software or from the network is setting the HA Address.
9. Maybe the HA Address interface is not even functional right now, it sure is behaving that way.
10. On another note The HA's that came with my new SCM don't follow the same formatt of all the other HA Addresses, look at the last 2 digits they are 12, instead of 76 or 77. Also look at the next set up #'s, in most cases they are a 3 digit set of numbers, instead of 2 (15). I wounder what is up with that? Maybe I am just reading too far into it.
11. I populated the Old SCM with the New HA addresses. And it will not connect, I have gotten 2 diffrent errors.
_"Error 131: your vision user name and/or Password may be incorrect, Please click try again".
_"Error 131: your vision user name and/or Password may be incorrect, Please click update Data Profile".
_____Got a little risky and hit the update profile. Just gave me another error. So I changed the HA back to a known good one it would recognize. And I am back online sending this trouble shooting synopsis.
12. Well I am out of ideas for trouble shooting this further. I guess I will leave this alone for the moment and let my mind stew on it for a bit. Maybe I will come up with some other ideas to try and isolate this problem. But if it is a setting that was compiled this way obvously I can not change these settings. My gut feeling though is that the HA Address interface is not functional with this release of software, and there is a default ha address in the software. Maybe the HA address interface has a bugg in it that does not allow you to save the HA Addresses, since any time I have gone back into it the addresses are switched over to what seems to be a default setting.
13. Is there any diffrence from a HA Address, and a IP Address? Is there a software program or pinger program that can scan through the HA Addresses, to see what active HA addresses are out there? Obviously if the address you try to use is not the PRL, or firmware, what ever file its stored in. You will not be able to connect to the network.
13. Maybe some of the other guroos on here have some ideas or suggestions.

Good luck and ttyl,
Tim

Somehow, the new SCM kicks me out of Rev A and reverts to 1x after a few minutes of connection. If I disconnect and connect again, I get Rev A again (100% signal) and back to 1x after a few minutes. I can't find an option for "only Rev A", as in the old SCM.

I just updated from the previous version to the new one and I have the Pantec PX-500 card running Windows XP. I kept the laptop in the same spot and speed tests prior to upgrading I was getting over 1000 kb/s and now with it upgraded I just ran a few tests and they are averaging in the 500 kb/s range and I don't have the ByteMobile installed. I think I will go back to the old version.

tools->setting->mobile and you can select "CDMA EVDO" but you must be disconnected from the network. I run my device this way to stay at Rev A because it'll drop to 1xRTT if I don't.

I'm running xp/sp2/595u and what I notice is the connection is dropped MUCH less frequently than before, in fact I haven't had a connect drop yet. My VPN software was very tempermental to the connection and would disconnect. Sometimes my signal strength is 0%/-125dbm (it's 100%/-57dbm most of the time) but it'll still work... wierd. In fact, it's doing it right now asI post this message.

The disconnect was such a problem I was thinking about purchasing the booster antenna but it just didn't feel like an "antenna problem" and I'm glad whatever was causing my issues is resolved with a new connection manager.

Thanks for the reply but I wasn't wanting to gain access to ##msl for activation (plus, there's an activate card option in the menu--no need to use a ## code). In prior CMs (both the Sierra and the previous Sprint CM) the ##msl command brought up a PST that allowed access to many parameters of the CDMA chip).

If that's being disabled in future releases of the Sprint CM, that's a shame for tinkerers (I can see why Sprint would do it though). Just wanted to make sure it wasn't just me and give a heads-up to other users.
