There are other threads up here that talk about the promised Rev A and GPS to be added to the Mogul. This isn't really anything new - and many of us are just waiting for Sprint/HTC to deliver. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

The author of the story runs pdaphone.com and is quite "in the loop" with Sprint, so this seemed unusually credible to me. Hence I am passing it on here.
The timeline for yet another new ROM update this month, prior to the Rev.A/GPS update, is perhaps new.

| I hate to say it, but I'll believe it when I download it. |

I'm not that doubtful that the rev a upgrade will happen, but more doubtful as to timeframe. The sprint or htc folks only seem to have two speeds, and if we don't like this one, we sure won't like the other.
A question I have...which is getting way ahead of myself, is...
Is there a way to send a signal from a device like a mogul to a router instead of a PC...or more likely notebook.
In other words, is there a way to share a tethered connection? I assume you can create an ad hoc network, but is that the only choice?
cheers,

| Yes you can use the phone as a modem but be careful about charges. Even if you have unlimited data sprint may charge differently if you are using the phone as a modem. |

So Mud, what do you mean by different charges. If the account is unlimited for a flat fee, that would imply that the charges are altogether the same for anyone on the program.
What do you know that contradicts that?

The Kyocera KR1 router has a USB port that is designed to allow you to plug a phone into it. It only works with certain phones, although I believe it does adhere to some standard. I bought a KR1 and tried it out. It didn't work with my Treo 650, but I was using a mobile broadband card anyway. The problem I had was that it wasn't compatible with my work VPN, so I returned it.
This would be an ideal setup though, in my opinion, imagine, having a cradle for your phone plugged into your router. Come home from work, plug in your phone to your cradle, it's charging and you've got WiFi now. If the performance was good enough, I could cancel my home broadband, and only have one Sprint account, my handset account. |
