Well I just visited verizon website. And they have a new express card which is KPC680 much cheaper than V740. But they have the same spec and everything. Well there must be a catch in some way, being cheaper than the V740. I learn that Alltel uses KPC680 for a longest time for their expresscard line up. So which do you thing is better and has best performance? This will help people decide, which one to get between the two product. Because V740 reign verizon expresscard lineup for sometime now.

one big factor is that the antenna adapter cables for KPC680 may not be available until "december sometime".

and if you are a Mac user, apple includes native driver support for V740.

oh. and speaking of price... the v740 is on sale at 3gstore for $69.99 with no rebate hassle.
That price is when bought with a new 1yr or 2yr contract at $59.99 and includes our free booster antenna!

good points Alex, and on the Mac OS X front, Apple has drivers built-in from 10.4.9 - 10.5.1. Makes it simple using a V740 on a MacBook Pro.

Hello All

Looks like I am going to have to prematurely retire my one year old Air Card 595. (I have room on the shelf next to my old trusty 5220) I am buying a new laptop, and it is so hard to find a decent one that still has the PC CARD I/II Slots. SO I had to EBay myself a new V740.

So the question is, Can I lock the V740 into EVDO Mode? Does the Verizion software that ships with them modem allow me to do this? If not, is there software out there that will?

I am 1 year into a two year contract, and Verizon wants 279.00 for me to get a V740 from them. Not sure if I want to even commit for another two years with them either as of right now.

I thank the 3GStore for having the adapter cable to allow me to connect my new V740 to my CA-816 Amp and my Trucker Antenna I have grown to love in the few years I have had it in service now. Will these also work just as flawless with the line up of AT&T Modems out there too ?

Thanks in Advance!!

I'd like to bump this thread for more opinions between the two. The V740 is still more expensive than the KPC680, but I'm hearing of a lot of disconnect issues on the Alltel networks (I'm planning to order Verizon) with the KPC680.

Which is the better, more stable card?

Can you post links to the reports you saw of KPC680 disconnecting on Alltel's network?

sure. Here's the main discussion about the model replacement

Here's another thread with multiple users reporting the same issue.

it makes me a little nervous.
