This tip allows Eliminate the delay when EVDO goes dormant. There is a web page that refreshes or an application that you can download.

If your EVDO PC Card is inactive, this tip will remove the inactivity and your card will no longer be dormant (= faster EVDO).

This tip applies to ALL EVDO PC Cards: Sierra PC 5220, Novatel V620, Sierra AirCard 580, Kyocera KPC 650.

Michael,

Thanks for Dormant Killer. It will be a big help on my Powerbook.

But I also have a Samsung i730. Can I run Dormant Killer when using EVDO on that phone?

Keep up the great work.

Hugh

Hugh,

Yes, there are some dormant killer techniques that can be applied to Pocket PCs (XV6600, i730, Sprint PPC-6601, etc.)

If your using Mozilla Firefox http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/, then install this plugin https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=115.

You can then select a web page and auto refresh every 5 seconds or so. Choose to refresh google or something that is mostly text.

Since the lastest firmware update, my card goes dormant very quickly and then it takes me two browser refreshes to get the content up.

I'm really considering leaving Verizon Wireless because of this when my contract is up in a few months. This is mainly a 1xRtt issue, but I seem to be one tower to far away for EvDO service.

Sprint's rollout is right around the corner. I'll have to see if they will meet my needs.
