I posted here a couple months ago about connectivity issues, which seems to be a frequent issue with the KR-1 given the complaints I see posted here.

I have a more specific connectivity question:

My wife and I are on the road in a LOT of different places. Right now, we're in North Texas... we're using the KR-1 wirelessly with our PC laptops (she: XP; me: Vista) and we're using a Verizon PC5740 PCMCIA card to connect. We're in EVDO country right now, good connection (3 bars says Verizon Access Manager).

The problem we encounter *frequently* is that our wireless network will disappear. Poof, it's gone. As in, "View available wireless networks," and it's no longer there. In the middle of working. Vanished. And it doesn't come back unless you go over and cycle power on the KR-1. There it is again!

If this happened once every 3 days, no big deal... it happens.

I think we cycled power 20 times yesterday. It's getting to be a bit ridiculous.

Called tech support, we upgraded to 1011 firmware, they asked us to give it a few days to see if that "fixes the problem" -- not holding my breath.

Anybody else experience this same problem?

Yes, I see this issue all the time. Some days I'll have to power-cycle (or reboot) 15-20 times in a normal working day to keep the wireless network up; some days it'll only happen once or twice. But it happens every single day, without fail.

It happened under RK1008 originally - upgrading to RK1010 made no difference, nor did upgrading to RK1011. I had the router replaced under warranty, and the new one actually did work fine for about a week..

I've got another Netgear wireless router that I use as a workaround - hardly satisfactory, but it does keep me working most of the time!

What gives here??? There are noticable and documented problems and with the kr1 and yet they are still recommended and sold. It does seem to be with some folks, me being one and others do not have any problems.

I have a kr1 that I just got yesterday and I have the disappearing wireless network as well. The ddns does not work either.

Can one of the 3g guys explain what the solutions would be with this router?

I am going to just send mine back and try one of the others. I have a soulution that works but was trying to save some money buying the kr1.

Same problem here - have either of you ever come up with a solution? It's quite frustrating.

I just started using the wireless on my KR1 after purchasing a laptop the day after Christmas. So far I'm very disappointed. Sometimes I'll have to cycle power 3-4 times in an hour. I'm on the verge of spending $40.00 for a regular Linksys router, and turning off the wireless on the KR1, if that will work. Anyone tried that, and if so, what results have you had?

I must be one of the lucky ones!? Mine has performed flawlessly since day one out of the box. What I do though is run mine with the wireless mode turned of and run it as a modem with it hooked to my WRT54G which is pumped up by 3rd party firmware. I'm Verizon running the USB 720 RevA card. When I was out of town for over 2 weeks during the holidays I ran it by itself and no problems. I am usually sharing the connection with 1 or 2 other people/computers and still no problem. So strange as I read all these posts and sure count my blessings!
