|
|
Just bought a WRT54g3g from 3gstore, had it working quite fine with firmware 2.009 that came with it. I'm using it with Alltel and PC5750 card. Using external wilson, I'm getting great mid 70's signal, but upload speeds not so good, so I upgraded with the beta that came on the CD from 3gstore (2.01.3_t6).
Router comes up and works, but the web GUI freezes every time I try to select something. I now can't make *any* changes to the router, including using the web gui to downgrade back to the 2.009 bin file. I've tried HTTP and HTTPS, both of which used to work...now, the browser just freezes waiting for the pages to load, but they never do! I've physically killed the power and turned it back on several times....no dice. I tried SSH and telnet, but I guess the linksys linux doesn't support anything but the web gui??
What do I do now?
Thanks! |

Couldn't run the web gui with the 5750 inserted...any of the gui screens with the card status would lock up the gui. Took the card out and it worked fine...so I reverted back to 2.009 and all is working fine again!
The Alltel UTStarComm PC5750 locks up the web gui for the 2.01.3_t6 beta that comes on the 3gstore CD's....beware! |

| Did you turn off the router and your computer after the update then turn on the router and wait a bit and then turn on your computer? This is recommended for some routers and might help. No guarantee of course. |

Terry,
Your router is not hosed. You were just doing what you thought just might work. A Beta is just that... That is of course why they call it a beta, right?
Good news is, your router is not hosed and the Experts here at 3Gstore have got a solution for you. We will send you the recovery solution package we have that our technicians have put together for this very occurrence.
Watch your e-mail for the solution, It is on it's way! _________________ - Victor |

Um....the router is working fine...no need to send a "recovery" package? Without the card inserted the GUI worked, so I simply reflashed back to 2.009.....
Yeh, I know it's a beta...when I first posted, I thought I had bricked it! Even a beta shouldn't brick a router, should it? |

Good to see the problem I discovered with the beta wasn't fixed even with the 2.01.12 release. With a 5750, this firmware breaks the web interface.....nice!!
Glad to see I discovered this 6 months ago and it's not been fixed yet.......way to go Linksys!! |

| Victor or Torrey, etc. -- Does Sprint's PX-500 has the same problem with this firmware or is it just the Alltel variant of this card? |

Just FYI, the update also jacked my web interface w/ my Alltel PC5750.
But I could get to any other page just by going through my history. So only the first page was unavailable.
No matter... I'm upgrading to open wrt firmware. |

|

karlyn,
Honestly due to the fact we are unable to get Alltel service in our area, it would be rather difficult to confirm that. I can honestly say that the new 2.01.12 firware that was released along with the beta that was issued to us from Linksys and then enclosed as a courtesy to our customers on CD was not resolving the issues.
The Linksys router regardless of the data card that I have been seeing customers using with it has not been stable according to customers statements. I have been noting a trend that if you use anything other than the 2.00.9 and with the data card inserted or not inserted, the routers stability would be far from dependable.
At this time, customers of 3GStore and even others that are in possession of this router, I highly advise running with the 2.00.9 version of firmware for the amount of these units being reported as a success have not been out weighing the reports of the router working when running the upgraded firmware past the 2.00.9 version.
Linksys, hear our cries!!! Please run your software/firmware through better Q&A procedures before going to market with an inferior version that ends up creating more headaches than the router is worth.
I am still waiting for your setup assistant CD alone to be more than a coaster sitting on my desk!!!
If I could count the amount of times I received a call from a customer that had a locked up Linksys WRT54G3G-ST router due to running the Set-Up CD that is shipped from Linksys with the router, it would just make you plain sick;-( What is the use of a setup CD anyways when all it does is generate a support call when you use it? Kind of defeats the purpose, wouldn't you say??? _________________ - Victor |

I have spent the last two days banging my head in frustration with Linksys tech support over this router issue. I was told by Linksys to contact the store and get a new router because this router is defective. I figured I would give one last ditch effort to see of others were experiencing the same problem with the Setup screen freezing the router when the card is inserted. I am going to revert back to 2.00.9 as soon as I submit this.
I do have one question that is off topic, but what is the advantage of using the OpenWRT over the Linksys firmware? |

I've had ver 2.00.9 in my Linksys WRT54G3G-ST for almost 9 months. It worked good. D/L 1300kb - U/L 800kb. My problem is that almost every night and now several times a day I loose the internet and I have to reset the router.
About 3 days ago I installed ver 2.01.12. With the PC card installed I can't get into the GUI. If I pull the PC card, the GUI works fine, except there is no info about the card or whether or not I'm connected. But for the last 3 days, I had to reset the router only once. I think this ver has helped my problem, but I don't like not being able to use the GUI.
I too question whether I should use the OpenWRT firmware or go back to the ver 2.00.9. _________________ Don McCabe |

Openwrt on it's own has no web gui config tool, this is an important problem for many people.
The Rangerw Evdowizard r82 is a hack of Openwrt with a webif gui config tool. This r82 hack is mostly usable, but requires command line work to get it functioning properly. Anyone considering r82 needs to read the thread, and become familiar with the necessary steps BEFORE doing any reflashing.
Some people have had problems with this process, due to inexperience with the command line or not fully understanding all the details.
No one will have complete support for you during this process. You can always post questions, but don't expect immediate response or magical aid to any problems. You might brick your router if things go wrong, you must be willing to take the risk.
I think the r82 openwrt hack is great, and a big improvement over the busted linksys firmware, but it isn't easy or simple.
Good luck,
Dave |

|
|
Was already running the latest stable version of OpenWRT supplied by the EVDOWizard. Decided to upgrade to the latest BETA V1.2. Made some necessary changes to the mobile network. Router was working fine so I shut down the web GUI. I notived that devices could not connect wireless so I went to go back in the GUI. When requested I entered root and the password as requested. The web GUI returned a 404 URL file could be found on server error. I tried rebooting the router and still could not get in to the administive GUI. The LAN configuration is working fine and allowing internet traffic. Simply put the GUI seems to be hosed / bricked. Does anyone have any solutions for me at this point? |

I think this BETA V1.2 is about r45 or so. The most current I know of is r82 which I got from Rangerw's page. That one still needs a few hacks to work, so read from the back of the thread to find those notes.
Actually this is in the wrong thread, this thread is about the Linksys .12 version which breaks the gui with a 5750 card. |
