|
|
We have been using Verizons PC5750 card for about a year and just had a meeting with Sprint who gave me a Sierra Wireless 595 card to test for 2 weeks.
What are your thoughts on these two card? Would it be worth switching to Sprint? We currently have around 100 Verizon aircard users. |

| You will have the answer to your own question. You have been given a Sprint card to try so you should be able to judge if the service is better. Assuming there are no ETF's involved and the service is at least equal if not better then it's a no brainer. If not stick with Verizon. |

They seem to be pretty much equal now depending on what's important to you. Performance is pretty much the same on average and varies by cellsite. Sprint gives more granular control like setting home agent, forcing EVDO/1xRTT or roaming.
Verizon's 5GB/month limit isn't really enforced anymore and is quite a bit to begin with. But they might be capping performance for those who exceed 5GB.
Coverage just depends on where you are. Sprint now claims to cover 215m pops with 230m coming by end of the year. Verizon last reported 210m a couple months ago, likely more by now. Gonna depend on where you are. Verizon sometimes has better outskirts of metro areas covered while Sprint more often has interstate highways between cities with EVDO.
Sprint does still roam on Alltel EVDO while Verizon doesn't. . May make a difference for your users who travel the Midwest/South. Sprint also roams on Verizon 1xRTT. If interested in upcoming WiMAX, upgrading Sprint EVDO to WiMAX would likely be a relatively easy transition, starting next year as they'll likely have combo WiMAX/EVDO cards. Verizon's nextgen will probably come in 2010. |

I'm just a single user, but I went with the sprint plan because there was no overage on the data transfer. Verizon has a 5gb cut off, then you get charged for additional.
I download a lot of media, and in this day and age that can really add up. |

Verizon does NOT have a 5GB "cutoff" and does NOT charge any overage beyond 5GB.
The 5GB "issue" is that verizon reserves the right to possibly reduce an accounts speeds if they feel that your usage is impacting their network.

| just FYI... I asked Verizon pointedly about the 5GB cutoff... i was told that over 5GB connection will be cut for peak hours.... peak hours being all the useful hours. |
