Sprint embedded EVDO gets stuck on "Authenticating"

Every 3rd to 5th time switching back to WWAN from WLAN or Sleep mode, connection to Sprint EVDO gets stuck on "Authenticating." Then, only a re-boot will get me back on to the network. Never a problem with Wifi connections.
Does anyone have an idea? Sprint support only said to delete WWAN and have it re-install. (did no good) Sony TZ170N

Usually, all you need to do is click "Turn Off" in SmartWI then "Turn On" again. This "reboots" the card instead of the laptop and you should be able to connect normally again.
