horrible signal, unclear on evdo versus regular service HELP

okay im new here and tryin to learn all the terms and such. If i understand right, EVDO is a high speed connection in certain areas that im pretty sure i dont have and cant get where i live. I get one maybe two bars at my house and it comes and goes...I just need to know the best thing to buy to help service...i have a novatel v640. i looked at various amps and antennas but dont know what to buy. thanks

BTW im located in the 95688 area code if that might help anyone give me some info. checking cellreception.com now to see what comes up. i have verizon service.

Try walking around indoors and see what your dBm/RSSI signal levels are. You might get better signal in different rooms, near windows, etc.

Also, go out side and see what signal is like in all corners of your property.

on how to measure your signal strength.
