You are not authorized, or the EVDOinfo page does not exist.
You need to login. |

I tried doing this with a firewire network between my xp desktop and my powerbook.
each one has its own static ip address and the default gateway on the xp machine is set to the ip address of the powerbook
internet sharing is on and configured to use the firewire port
xp machine cannot browse the internet
anyone else out there in evdo land doing this?
thanks
edit: looks like I need to have personal web sharing enabled in the firewall preference pane. will try this tonight and update this thread |

I've found that using DHCP usually works best. Internet Sharing is designed to enable DHCP service on the shared interface. If you set both machines to use DHCP you may have some luck.
One exception I've found to this is that sometimes when I share my EVDO connection via the Ethernet interface DHCP seems to fail. In that case I give the machine that is connecting to my shared Ethernet interface a static IP address in the 192.168.2.0/24 subnet. If you are sharing via the Airport interface, you can try the 10.0.2.0/24 subnet.
I use Internet Sharing quite frequently so I'm more than happy to help if anyone has little problems that come up. Two general tips are to repair your disk permissions (I have no idea why this might help) if it is failing and to move your EVDO interface to the top of your list under Network Port Configurations under the Network under System Preferences. |
