Phone to test signal?

Can you use a sprint cell phone to test evdo signal? If you can get a strong voice signal does that indicate that you will likely get good evdo strength? Both are co-located on the same tower aren't they?

Hi Jim,
It's freightliner from you know where. Usually the newer phones will show an "EV" icon of some sort in the display somewhere to let you know when EV-DO is in use. My motorola q phone is what told me I was getting a signal. Once I got the aircard, I learned that it was rev A. I figured that it was rev A, because for years we were only getting 1XRTT, and then all of a sudden about a month ago the signal transformed into EVDO. I figured they wouldn't install older revisions on a tower in this day and age.
