UPDATE! THE KYOCERA KR2 IS NOW AVAILABLE AND SHIPS 03/17/08!
Kyocera KR2 Router Review is online at http://www.EVDOinfo.com/KR2
Kyocera has announced the KR2 Router. Here is the news as reported:
| Quote: | SAN DIEGO -- Kyocera Wireless Corp., a leading global manufacturer of CDMA wireless phones and devices, today announced the KR2 Mobile Router. The KR2 Mobile Router supports PCMCIA, ExpressCard and USB devices for wireless connectivity and features 802.11n (Draft 2.0) for longer-range, faster Wi-Fi connections to terminal devices including laptop computers. Building on the success of Kyocera’s groundbreaking KR1 Mobile Router, the new KR2 can also act as a conventional router, plugging into cable or DSL modems to provide fail-over capability to an EV-DO connection during network interruptions.
The sleek, redesigned Kyocera KR2 Mobile Router takes a single CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Rel. 0 or Rev. A connection and creates a mobile Wi-Fi hot spot using 802.11b, g or n technologies, allowing simultaneous connectivity for multiple PCs. It also offers four Ethernet LAN ports to connect non-Wi-Fi-enabled devices. Along with fail-over capabilities, the KR2s enhanced feature set bolsters security by supporting Wi-Fi Protected Setup Mode via a dedicated button used during the Wi-Fi pairing process.
“The launch of the KR2 Mobile Router demonstrates Kyocera’s commitment to developing a broad range of data products,” said Tom Maguire, vice president of global marketing at Kyocera Wireless Corp. “From a wealth of best-of-breed M2M modules and devices to award-winning PC cards and routers, we are ensuring that people can connect on the go with complete portability and flexibility.”
The easy-to-use Kyocera KR2 Mobile Router can be installed in minutes virtually anywhere and provides high-speed Internet and data access for multiple users. Along with the Protected Setup Mode, the device features VPN-L2TP and enhanced encryption for network security.
The Kyocera KR2 Mobile Router builds on the success of its predecessor, the Kyocera KR1, which received Editor’s Choice Awards from PC Magazine, E-Business Magazine, SMB Computing Magazine, The Best PC Magazine and Service Provider Weekly. The device also won a 3G A-List Award and was selected by CNET as a “Best of CES 2006” finalist. |
Admin Edit: The Kyocera KR2 is expected to launch during First Quarter of 2008.
