KPC650 perfect for a powerbook even in hurricane Katrina

I just bought 2 KPC650 with verizon service from booster-antenna.com. One was overnighted to my son in Chicago; it worked instantly on his new HP Pavilion zd8230us Notebook 17" at speeds of about 400mbps. The other came to me, in Florida, during Hurricane Katrina... UPS was awsome to deliver "next day" as promised.
I use a Powerbook G4 15.4 inches, running 10.4.2; within minutes I was up and running even when the signal was low due to the weather. The install is so easy, a 5 years old kid can do it! The Tech support people at Verizon knew all about using a KPC650 on a Mac but were puzzled to hear that their service was down. (It did'nt last long)
I took my powerbook to my factory in Davie, Fl. during the 20 minutes trip, my wife was performing some speed tests of about 360 mbps while the car was going at 75 mph; that was fantastic. When we arrived, 2 trees had fallen on top of cars, it was raining hard, it was the last squalls of the hurricane or the end of the world. the power was out, the phones were out.
The Powerbook and the internet were the only things working.
It was Awsome, it was fun...It made our day!

Thanks for the report and I am glad that it is working for you.

I just have one question....

When you ordered this from us, did you get it because of the coming hurricane and you wanted another way to access the internet or did it just work out that way.

Hopefully, the power is on now, or will be soon.

Nope. just a coincidence but it came at the right time -very a propos!
The power is still not back - FYI, right now, I am connecting at 910.6 kilobits per second on the Bandwidth speed test. It's amazing, it is going faster and faster!

You should try modifying your TCP Buffer and see if that helps gain even more performance (it is a free simple little application, one for Windows and one for Mac).

By the way, the fastest I have ever seen was 1.9mb download (disclaimer: I don't get that speed all the time, I get in the 400K - 700k speeds, with bursts around 1mb).
