I'm not going to jump as fast as the rest of you in extending my contract by 24 months at least.
I've got 6 months left on my contract. I'm going to wait and see what Sprint has to offer. They will be live (officially) by the time my contract expires. 6 months X the 20 dollars in savings = $120.00.
I'd rather spend the $120.00 than re-enlist for 2+ years without knowing what kind of deal Sprint will offer when they come out of the gate. They most likely will have a great deal to begin their battle with Verizon Wireless for customers.
Think about this before you jump on the re-enlistment bandwagon. _________________ --Mark |

Just adjusted my plan also, no questions asked. (Infact the C/S guy says the scuttle is that we (in the PNW should see "rapidly expanding EVDO coverage"
We were again out on the M/Y last week and had great connectivity most of the time. (pretty sweet to be able to order replacement fishing gear while "jigging for Salmon in Puget Sound"
Tim
Thanks Michael for the great Antenna as well! Now about that Kyocera wireless router that "the EVDO card can be the source" Any update?? |

I'm on a 2 year contract, business account, about 9 months remaining. Data only, no phones.
I called vzw 800 number you posted, told the I heard there was a price drop but it was not automatic .. She said "yes". I then asked what I needed to do to get the lower rate. She said I couldn't get it because it only covered 1 plan and I had both broadband and national access. I chuckled a bit and asked "yeah? so?" .. She asked me to hold a minute. Asked for my mobile number (I gave here my number as shown in the help/about screen in vzw access mgr). She said, ok, you're all set. You now are at the 59.99 /month unlimited _________________ Did you ever stop to think .... and then forgot to start again? |

Guys,
No doubt being at at Telephone call center is not an advanced position at start. As a sales manager once said to me. Never leave until you have got at least three (3) NO'S! "then call back and ask for a superviso"
1) not listening to me, distracted by other calls, or people in his face at time of call
2)not given enough information in the question to give the answer I am looking for
3) not willing to ask for further assistance (might make the operator look like an idiot for not knowing the product he is selling
Remember it is your money you are spending!
Ain't competition great!

I just re-upped with no problems. I do have Verizon cell service but they didn't ask about it, took about 2 minutes. _________________ Dell M1210 5700 |

I'm a business account with 1 evdo/1xRTT account. 2 year contract, about 9 months total remaining. No voice, just the one account and I use a 5220 card on my PC.
I called the 800 number you posted in your announcement and said I'd heard about the rate drop. CSR said "yes, we are offering that. I said I heard I had to call and ask for it as it wasn't automatic. She said yes but it only applied to a single account and I had both broadband and national access. I chuckled and said that is *one* account. She asked me to hold a moment, came back and asked for my mobile number. I gave her the one shown on my access manager help/about screen and she said "you're all set. You're rate is now 59.99/month for unlimited broadband/national access. Didn't ask me to extend for a year even.
They're obviously new at this but very accomodating. I'd say if you get told know, just keep calling back til you get a CSR that says "yes" _________________ Did you ever stop to think .... and then forgot to start again? |

Hi all,
First post.
Thanks for the great resource! You all saved me some $$$ (gotta luv the internet).
My story:
I signed up for T-Mobile service last week using a Sony Ericcson CG79 card last week, mistakenly believing it was compatible with my 17" Powerbook (1.5Ghz). Of course, none of the employees in the kiosk knew about Mac compatiblity, but I thought I had read on the web that it was... Search of the web confirmed it wasn't compatible (I must've been thinking of Verizon's service).
So I brought the card back, and literally spent two hours cancelling the service, both in the store and over the phone. In T-Mobile's defense, their call center in Florida was effected by Katrina (hurricane), so maybe not inexcusable...
So I researched for a wireless PC card that works for Mac, and found a reference to the newly-released OS X driver for the Kyocera KPC650 on Verizon. Everything I've read suggests this is the best option for Mac users, being the latest generation card that offers better reception than older cards, especially in areas that have low-signal strength...
Anyway, I picked up a card on Sunday and qualified for the $100 rebate (last day to purchase PC cards and still get the rebate was Sunday, 28 Aug 05). I signed up for the National plan for $60, as Broadband isn't available here yet anyway.
I also got wind of the price change for Broadband from this site, so called today to get the Broadband capability for the same price I had for National. So pretty killer service at a great price, and I'm rather stoked... I think I double-dipped: it's ALL about timing.
BTW, I don't have a voice phone with Verizon (I have an older TDMA account with AT&T which is cheap, only $24/mo. I'm obviously reluctant to give THAT up, but will have to, when Cingular scuttles TDMA for GSM. When I do, I'll obviously be leaning towards Verizon, who I never would've considered if not for their wireless service, and support for Mac users).
So with this card, I will be disconnecting my dedicated land phone line and my earthlink dial-up account, and have a much faster mobile connection for only $15 more per month. Awesome! Verizon really hit a home run with this service, and gets kudos for being 'first to deploy' AND for supporting Mac users. A no-brainer for Powerbook owners, IMO.

Oh yeh they got the new plan rate too. |

Well, I woke up in a National Access world today, no broadband. I called Verizon and the tech tried to tell me the pricing plan was for NA not broadband so I went off on him a bit so he did some checking around and decided I should have broadband after all.
They had actually disconnected my broadband so make sure they haven't changed your plan overnight. _________________ Dell M1210 5700 |

Hi all,
I'm in Maryland, have been enjoying BroadbandAccess for a few months now, and called the 800 number to get the $59.99 pricing.
Unfortunately, I was told that I need to sign (actually sign) a new 2 year contract either at a Verizon store or they could mail or fax one to me.
When I pointed out that I was aware of a number of people who had made the adjustment to their account/contract over the phone, the rep indicated that the signed contract requirement varies by state, and that MD is just one of those states.
I will try calling them back later in the day to see if I can talk to a different rep to get past this, but just wanted to give a heads up to any other MD users. |

Guys.. in the ad it states Broadband Access Unlimited Monthly Home Airtime Usage... are they not going to allow you to leave your home city with no extra charges for $59.99?
| Michael wrote: | Here is the ad:
This all looks good on paper, but if you do the math, you may be paying slightly more for EVDO:
- The $100 Rebates ended August 28, 2005
- This promotion is only for 2 year agreements
- This promotion only works if you have a Verizon Mobile phone number
SO, if you want a 1 year agreement or don't an existing Verizon Mobile Phone, today, you actually are paying more for EVDO, compared to yesterday.
FYI, sometimes it takes 1 - 2 days AFTER a rebate expired for a new one to take place. We haven't see any indication that there will be a rebate extension. |

I just signed up at 59.99, +20 activation fee, +99.99 for the card. I have never had any dealings with verizon in any way before, and I only ordered broadband, no phones of any other services. I am a business. They gave it to me no problem.
I asked the rep about access outside my "home" area and it just doesn't matter. "Anywhere in the Conitnental United States" was the response. Out-CONUS you cannot get connected to VZ at all, even if the country (Brazil) has EVDO. You must make "other arraingements." |
