constant web page time outs....

Howdy...

Here's my situation:

I am using a desktop PC with the Franklin CDU550. I only have 1x coverage right now, but should be upgraded to EVDO by the end of the month. My problem is that 99% of the time, clicking on links, only times out the web page. It says "Connecting to blah blah blah", and then times out. Then I can click "refresh" and the pages load fine most of the time.

I called Alltel techs, and eventually got to a tier three tech. He changed something with the handshake, and now it connects in 20 seconds, rather than 90 seconds, but the problem still persists.

He went over a bunch of settings, and said everything was set up fine, and my RSSI was good, and shouldn't be affecting this issue.

Anyone else have these same issues ? I'm using Windows XP Home, fresh install, with updates applied. I'm not using an compression software, i.e. "Internet Accelerators".

I hope someone out there has some insight to this. I might take the card back for a new one, and see if that helps. Any other ideas ?
