I have a Kyocera KPC 650 to access the Alltel EVDO service and purchased an external (mobile) antenna to get better signal strength. It came with a very long cable. Does the signal strength deteriorate with this longer cable? Since I don't need it all I wrap it up but could get it cut down to a more reasonable length if that would help.

I use Verizon for claiification, posting here since our equipment is same.

I have the same setup (3w amp/omni) which I'm using on a WRT54g3g router (KR1 also) with the KPC-650 and a V640 express with adapter (in WRT54g3g only, KR1 won't work with V640 for me at least). I had best luck with using all the cable on the antenna to get it as far from router as possible so there is no double back of the coax. I take great pains to keep the coax, while still indoors, away from other wiring which is a chore since it's next to my HTPC.

Just a few days ago I did a test with and with out amp/antenna. According to the new graphic meter in the X-rt OpenWRT firmware I sae a 25 to 30 db improvement and the VZW Access software confirmed for the most. For me it means 1xRTT without them or EVDO with them.
