Uh... are you saying you don't think they are going to support them?
From what I've seen CradlePoint has been great about getting support for new devices, especially popular ones.
Besides, there are no Rev A phones out so how could they support them yet?
As far as the battery solution, it's an interesting and long term solution, but wiring your CTR up to so much battery, while giving it long life, kind of defeats the purpose of the nice small design.
Still, if you are an RV owner or just an extreme user, that would be a great way to get power. |

No, I didn't state myself clearly. I meant that I don't think Cradlepoint will waste anytime in getting support FOR rev A phones.
My only dig was in the absurd delay in the production of them long after most of the network has been up for a year.
I had an exchange with the Cradlepoint people specifically about the Mogul, and they intend to support it, although they've no timeframe in mind.
Based on what I've seen they're smart enough to get drivers for Rev A phones as they appear.

i'm of the opinion that we shouldnt be waiting for mogul to receive rev-a firmware to start the emails to cradlepoint.
their support for connectivity support between mogul and ctr350/phs300/mbr1000 is not likely to change if/when mogul has Rev-A.
if you want to see mogul supported by cradlepoint routers... get all your mogul-ites to send their request to:
suggestions@cradlepoint.com
demand is what dictates what features get higher priority.
so start demanding!
and when they DO support the mogul, you guys better buy oodles of cradlepoints (from 3gstore, of course)!! |

Alex, I agree that now is as good a time as any to hit them with suggestions, but when I put my marketing cap on I get a very different answer from you.
The Mogul, and phones like it will provide the ability to take calls while providing a wifi network at high speeds very likely to support voip and gaming.
If the speeds are competitive, many may choose a phone over a card.
I've already got my CTR, so I won't be buying an additional one, but I'm holding off on my Mogul until I get both rev A and CTR support. I will say thought, that I had the Mogul and not my current Muziq in mind when I bought the CTR even though I'm quite impressed with how well they work together.

i don't understand what you mean by that.

i'm sure you don't mean at the same time... because it won't.

doesn't bother me. 3gstore sells sprint moguls, too. |

What I mean by that is that Rev A phones respresent a niche opportunity for Cradlepoint. Since they already support PAM, why would they not seek to support the fastest phones that support PAM with alacrity?

Now I'm at a loss, I understood that Rev A allowed simultaneous calling and network which apparently HSDPA does now. That isn't the case? Thats disappointing, but good to know.

As for the 3g selling Mogul, thats great. I'd be inclined to purchase it from you in that case rather than the Sprint store. My approach has always been to see which approach offers the most options and greatest functionality. In the past the cards have been clearly superior. Perhaps rev A phones will blur the distinction.

This works:
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.2283
8800mAh @ 3.7v.
Problems: Didn't include the charger as pictured (I had one anyway). Took 2-3 weeks to arrive from hong kong. DX has lots of other items, so I got some flash drives, adapters, cables and other things too. Cabling is quirky and bulky, but they had the right set of connectors in the box. But I've used my soldering talents...
Plusses: The CP should run for many hours, and the pack is only slightly larger than the CP itself.
My old Zap! powerpacks are probably better, but hard to find, but I'd have to switch them given their 4000mah capacity if I wanted to run untethered all day.
DX also has an even bigger laptop power pack (http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.5909), but it is of course larger physically and more expensive. They also have smaller ones if you only need an hour or so. |

| Just got my 350 last night, I just spent about $26 buying a soldering kit, heat shrink, solder, AA battery holder and N size tips. Now, I have my own portable battery pack with 2700 mah rechargeables (of course, got superglue on my fingers as well) ! Thanks guys this fun! |

| I made up a pack of 4 10000mah D cells and my first test with it the CTR350 ran 15 hours before dropping the connection. The D cells are bigger/heavier than 4 AAs but the extended runtime is worth it to me. |

Then there is the one about using a UPS unit, like in a car/RV. That will power the thing for a week or more with normal usage! |

Yes the steps outlined above is correct. Also to unplug, the steps are reversed.

Readig your posts, you seem very "pro Tekkeon". In fact, after reading your reports, I bought one.
Since then, I have read several reports of frying the CTR-350 with the Tekkeon by plugging in the reverse order.
Was it you that fried one or two as as well?
I fried one of mine today
It seem unaccaptable to even use the Tekkeon main cable to power the 350, as sooner or later, one will end up plugging it in the wrong order, and poof, your CTR-350 is smoked.
A better solution is to splice a USB cable to a compatable adapter, and power the CTR-350 to the Tekkeon 3450's USB port (its always 5V, with no surge).
It is unfortuante that I left my makeshift cable at home today, and ended up using the Tekkean main cable. Now I gotta go buy another router.

Sorry for not responding back earlier. The reason I have recommended the Tekkeon battery back is the simple fact I can run my CTR350 OR PHS300, charge my iphone (if needed) and still have FULL WIFI/EVDO connection in an average of 32-50 hours!!
Since my first batch of tests that I had done a while back I have used the combination many times and have found the extra bulk which is not bad if wrapped up properly is well worth the extended run time I get WHEN NEEDED.
I have also found out a lot more on the details of the CTR350 and it's internals for built in protection (or the lack of) and unfortunately the Tekkeon if plugged in incorrectly can send out a surge because of the way it activates the battery pack.
I have heard from them that they are going to release a modified version of their battery pack that will no longer generate the surge that can burn out the CTR350.
I still use the battery pack when I want the extended run time on the PHS300 or CTR350. Even though I have burned out a couple of CTR350's in the past, the value of the extended run time is well worth it, and I am now very careful on the order of cable plug in sequence.

I'm thinking about buying a CTR350 and a Tekkeon MP3450. Frying the CTR350 is a big concern for me, and I really don't think I'll remember to plug them in in the right order.
I'd like to get some sort of USB cable that's a USB-A on one end and a 5.5mm power plug on the other end. Does anyone know where I could get something like that, maybe with a Radioshack Adaptaplug connector on it? Google didn't yield any results. |

Well it looks like they have found the issue and are resolving it with a revised unit.

And here is a picture of my CTR-350 powerpacks
The big one is on the right, the small one on the left.
The one on the right will run for a bit longer than the one on the left
