I am on a land line phone with dial up internet. Just received my KR1 router with KPC680 card. Need to know what to and how to install in what order. Router/Card/Alltel Activation. I have not yet got a laptop. I want to set this up on two desk top computers.

Any and all help will be appreciated.

Thank you.

You need to insert the 680 into a laptop and activate it first, before you can use it in a router.

Now, for the bad news, the 680 and the KR1 are not supported/compatible according to Kyocera. They say you need their USB adapter which is not available. I did try the SIIG, and it did not work well. I ended up going to Alltel and getting a 5750, and buying the LinkSys router from 3gstore.com along with an external antenna. Much better results.....

Based on all the messing around with the KR1 and 680, I am confident in saying that chances are it will not work for you. I tried the Novatel sled, SIIG USB adapter, and the Kyocera sled, then gave up.

I am no lightweight with electronics as I have been online since packet interface was available via ham radio.....many years ago.....

Thanks for the advice. I just returned my 680 and KR1. I got tired of the she said he said routine with nothing working. I understand around the first of the year there will be a KR2 comeing out which is compatable with the 680. Will wait a while and see.

Again thanks.
