I've been having some trouble and I'm not sure if it's
the router, Live, Sprint, or the S720 card...

My DIR-450 router appears to be pretty unstable, it:

Randomly looses my password/admin login info.
Depending on if you reboot it or refresh it may completely
loose all settings and revert to factory on you.
Uploading config files never works/completes.
The html status page signal indicator randomly turns into a scroll bar.
Sometimes you can't login to the router unless directly connected via cable to the 450.
It'll randomly drop the connection, leaving me with no signal at all.

Now as to Live:
I notice this with Halo 2 and 3, where as soon as I get Live connected my router signal meter drops by 30% then it tends to jockey back and forth between 30-20% loss (or drop completely off). My lag is very erratic - I'll get started and have full green bars and then I'll drop down to red, yellow, or I can get booted out fairly frequently too. Very few times have I experienced a full game in full green bars. When I first set up my router originally, I had full green 90% of the time with yellows here and there in large team battles no less. No settings have been changed from the initial group of settings I had on the router - so it's been restored by hand each time.

Typically I'll play a round, maybe two. Then I'll have to get off Live (or having been dropped) login to the router, and disconnect and then reconnect 3X or so to get a connection that finally will let me back on Live even though I get full signal reconnecting. Sometimes I'll have to reboot the router then reconnect, then get on Live.

So as you can probably gather, this is pretty annoying when you're on a team or have a group waiting on you. Much less inputting all the settings again by hand if the router dies.

As to Sprint, I've not noticed any blocking or major issues lately. When checked in a laptop, I've got a solid -51 signal. I get about 1300 down and 400 up as maximums. I'm using the Wilson Yagi and amp to obtain that signal.

The S720 card is up to date PRL, firmware, and SCM wise.

I do know there's a conflict with the S720's MTU being 1024 for best performance, and the Xbox wants a 1300 something MTU. Which is being bypassed by use of another router - but this still impacts downloads so that I'm getting exactly half speed. Probably 750 / 200 is what it's actually receiving.

Basically, I'm out of ideas other than trying to use my laptop with ICS to eliminate the DIR-450 router. Of which I don't know how to set ICS up.

Currently I'm double NAT'd, having the DIR-450 operating without the wireless, being hooked by wire to a DGL-4300, from which wired connections go out to all PC's and the Xbox.

The DGL-4300 hasn't given me a single problem, ever. So I doubt
if it has anything to do with this. It's been a good piece of equipment.

If it means buying a different EVDO router and perhaps even another card with a higher native MTU, so be it. All I need is something to sit there with the card, connect to the other router via ethernet, and give me a full speed stable connection.

I've taken these DIR-450s back to CompUSA enough times for an exchange that I used up all the stock in one store and went to Indy for this last one, which has lasted just long enough so I can't return it now.

Any suggestions? I'm running out of hair...

I have been using a DIR-450 + an S720 for 5 or 6 months now and connected 24/7 with none of the issues you described. In fact it has been rock solid dependable...

I know, I took your prior posts and others here into consideration
when I chose the 450. The first one worked well for the week I had it,
except the LAN 1 port receptacle broke... since then it's been downhill.

2 other 450 routers bricked themselves.

This one just has a slew of problems. Confused
