I am seriously about to jump into EVDO and wonder if there are any opinions about the Zyxel ZyWALL 2WG router/firewall and the Verizon Air Card 595. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks folks,

The only system I have used, and that is since the 1st of September, is a Keyocera KR1 router and the UTStarcom PC5750 Rev A card using Alltel as my wireless internet provider.
I don't use the router unless I want more than 1 computer on line or to let Tivo connect for it's call home for updates. Otherwise the card is in the laptop.
I do have an external omni with built in ground plane on top of the entertainment center which made the difference in getting EVDO or not. I highly recommend that antenna.
I will use two computers, Tivo and the antenna when we travel to the SW later this month. There's a hole in the table behind the passenger seat in which the antenna will live while moving and on short stops. On long stops the antenna will be on top the motor home in a hole drilled into the support arm of the satellite dish.
Make sure you get a Rev A card for whoever your internet provider is. The above mentioned card is the same as the PX 500 used on other providers.

Thanks Grafur,
I have the Verizon Aircard 595 and performance varies between 1XRTT and 2 bars EV-DO rev A with the card in my laptop sitting on the kitchen table. I have heard many good things about the Zyxel product, mostly from users in Europe. It has a robust firewall and supports the Aircard 595, plus it is reasonably cheap. Zyxel is a prominent manufacturer in the wireless appliance market. I have a Hawking USB wi-fi adapter that uses zyxel developed software & drivers.
I have ordered the omni fixed mount Wilson and the 3 watt dual band signal amplifier and plan to mount the antenna on the fascia board of the highest point on my house's roof.
I will update posts with pics as the progress evolves
