This thread will discuss the external antenna port that is on the Novatel U727 / Verizon USB727.
We have the specifications from Novatel and we are in the process of finding a suitable antenna cable.
"Watch" this thread and you will be notified when more information is available. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

Watch out! There are some "places" on the internet that are claiming they have a cable for the Novatel U727 USB Modem. The cables that they have are the same cable for other EVDO modems and these cables will probably damage your U727.
The picture above is the actual schematic we received from Novatel of the U727 / USB 727 EVDO modem. We have been reading up on this connector and it is different than any other connector that has been used in an EVDO modem previously. We have tried some existing connectors and they "kind of fit", they don't and the middle pin appears to be larger, so when you are inserting it into your connector, you may actually be damaging the internal connector.
So, if someone out there, claims they have one, be sure they are reputable, they may be out there making wild claims that MIGHT damage your brand new USB modem.
BTW, the ONLY reputable place that might have the first cable is Verizon Wireless, they list the cable as an accessory, BUT it is on backorder. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

| I saw that Verizon had an adapter available for the USB727, but it looked like it was for the antenna that they sell. I couldn't tell what connector they use between the adapter cable and the antenna cable. Does it match that used by Wilson? |

| The antenna and adapter is available through verizon and am assuming sprint also since the carry this also. Once you have the adapter it looks like you could hook any antenna up to the adapter. I got both and the cheap antenna that comes through them boosted me to full bars and I am way in the country surrounded by trees in a valley and i just sat it in my window sill. So it should do good enough anywhere. Any other questions feel free to ask or if pics are needed I can supply as well. |

| verizon carries 2 antennas one has suction cups the other is magnetic and is very stron and durable the magnetic is what i got. You can attatch it to the outside of a vehicle it has a 6ft cord on it. They told me it was not weatherproof but from looking at it i don't see why it wouldn't be. the adapter is 9.99 and both antennas are 19.99 each. Hope this helps |

| Do you know if the Verizon adapter will connect to a Wilson antenna using their standard connector? |

hi,
michael,
is there a specification on that u727 diagram that details the model number/type of the connector?
i should be able to find an electronics supplier that carries it and be able to make a pigtail for pennies...
thanks,
eric |

I assume you will notify us somewhere on this tread or forum when they are available? I will need one.
