|
|
Just over a year ago, my future looked pretty bleak. For 8 years prior, I (thought I) was a pretty good web developer churning out database driven sites that ran exclusively on MacOS using specialized webserver software.
It all came to an ugly screeching halt last May and I found myself left without a job. To make things worse, I could not find anybody else who needed a MacOS webserver guru. Maybe that should not have surprised me, but it did.
Later that summer, after months of job hunting and toying with home business ideas, I caught up with an old acquaintance who told me of his success with sales and support of broadband wireless gear.
When I learned about all that he was doing on the web to make his business fly, I saw it as an opportunity to practically beg for a job.
I quickly explained how I could help out with creating and maintaining web articles, web graphics, and even get to answering forum posts and emails. anything really... if I could just get the chance.
I sold him on my web skills, and not my knowledge of EVDO or sales ability... both of which he could have really used in a new employee.
Since I had limited knowledge of EVDO, it was decided that order to do my job well I would have to learn much more about EVDO, so I made the effort.
A year later I'm now an "EVDO Expert" and I find that sharing my hard-learned expertise with customers on the phone, in chat, by email, and on various web forums, has given me more job satisfaction than in the eight years I served in my 'previous life'.
3GStore's customers are the most appreciative bunch I have ever experienced in my 25+ years of customer service, and I would have never guessed such good people existed, if you asked me a year ago.
For the happiness in my life today, and the future ahead of me, I really need to say...
Thank You, Mike! |

This sounds like a "local boy makes good" story and from the stories I see of the help from the 3G group, well deserved.
Mike and Alex Atta boy,!!!!!!!
