|
|
This thread will discuss compatibility between the Kyocera KR1 and the Novatel USB727.
Verizon announced the USB727 on 09/27 and once we receive our first unit, 3gstore will test it with KR1 using latest firmware, and report our findings on this forum post.
Since the KR1 works with the older Novatel USB720/U720, we are hopeful that there will not be a firmware update needed to support the newer USB727. |

| I take it there will not be a firmware upgrade to make it work? |

Has there been any new news regarding this U727 and KR1 compatibility issue? I would hate to end up buying a Cradlepoint and then find out that there is a firmware update to the KR1. |

It looks like RK1011 will be the last official firmware release for the KR1.
Firmware RK1011 does not support the U727.
You cannot go wrong with one of the CradlePoint Routers. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

| I just upgrad my Sprint USB 720 to U727. U727 works perfectly on my KR-1 router. |

an older firmware resulted in half speed throughput.
this is same problem that plagued kr1 when S720 and U720 first came out, too. it took months for kyocera to 'support' those devices, and its not likely that they will ever fully support u727 with the kr1, since kr2 is on its way.
by far, the cradlepoint routers are a better 'new purchase' option for sprint u727. i guess is someone already owns a kr1, they can choose to suffer. |
