|
|
| Quote: | BASKING RIDGE, N.J. and SAN DIEGO, Sept. 27 -- Verizon Wireless, the leading wireless company with the nation's most reliable wireless voice and data network, today announced the availability of the USB727 Modem. Developed by Novatel Wireless, a leading provider of wireless broadband solutions, and carrying the distinction of being the world's smallest Evolution-Data Optimized (EVDO) Revolution A (Rev. A) modem stick, the USB727 features an integrated microSD(TM) slot, allowing for the seamless storage and transport of up to 4 GB of files, photos or videos. USB727 Modem will be available on October 5.
The USB727 is designed to work with any computing device equipped with a Type A USB port -- including most desktops, notebooks, and tablet PCs -- and provides on-the-go access to Verizon Wireless' national high-speed wireless broadband network. With out-of-box support for most operating systems, including Windows® (Vista, XP, 2000), Mac and Linux, the USB727 enables Verizon Wireless customers to stay connected to online resources with speeds and performance similar to those of traditional cable or DSL connections.
The USB727 is optimized for Verizon Wireless' EVDO Rev. A network and the company's BroadbandAccess service which provides average download speeds of 600 kilobits per second (kbps) to 1.4 megabits and average upload speeds of 500-800 kbps. Verizon Wireless customers with the USB727 can download a 1 Megabyte e-mail attachment -- the equivalent of a small PowerPoint® presentation or a large PDF file -- in about eight seconds and upload the same-sized file in less than 13 seconds.
Designed to be extremely durable and fit comfortably in any pocket, the USB727 combines a variety of innovative features into its tiny form factor, including an integrated dual-band diversity antennae system with flip-up antennae to maximize data speed performance and provide a strong network signal reception. VZAccess Manager Software is included to simplify set-up and navigation through the USB727's features.
Pricing and Availability
The USB727 is available at $149.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate and new two- year agreement. Customers can get BroadbandAccess service for Internet browsing, e-mail and intranet access for $59.99 monthly access with a new one- or two-year customer agreement. |

We do know that the USB727 is much smaller than older cousin USB720.
Its only about 3" long x 1" wide x 0.5" thick.
The USB727 has a unique flip up "loop" antenna. not sure about an antenna jack yet, but since USB720 had one, it would be foolish for USB727 not to have one.
More news from 3gstore about the Verizon USB727, coming soon!

We normally have better pricing than Verizon on new devices. Keep an eye on this thread for pricing and some unique promotions that we will have on this device _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

|
|
I was a bit mystified as to how to attach the lanyard that came with my Verizon USB-727. My instincts were right, it loops through the two tiny holes near the flip-up antennae and the tiny screw near the label with SKU.
I perused the owner's booklet skimming for mention of the lanyard and how to attach it--no luck. So I called Verizon "Customer Service" and pressed all the phone butons to get to "USB-727 Help". The first girl was clueless and helpless having done her "job" by just showing up. We beat around the bush until I asked for a Supervisor. She put me on terminal hold for 10-15 minutes (thank God for speaker phones facilitating multi-tasking), She probably went to lunch figuring "I fixed him-he'll die on hold before he attaches that lanyard--the nerve of him expecting me to be familiar with the product I get paid to know about".
I called back and got a charming and helpful girl named Brittany. Explaining my frustration, she helped me through the process, which is not easy or obvious. I shoved the litle string through one hole and fished it out the other with a tiny pick device from my tool box.
I'm quite proud of my perseverance in this matter and feeling of accomplishment--the things you do when you're home with a cold. |

I found that with my aging eyes, the lanyard doesn't let me get my head far enough away from my laptop to see the screen thru my bi-focals. _________________ WVBill |
