Plug in, and go!
But I am curious if the GPS functionality works on Mac OS X?

sorry. no such luck.

only device with GPS features for OSX is the Franklin CDU680

On Nov 8th, Sprint released an OS X version of their Location and Search GPS software for Novatel EV-DO modems. It can be downloaded from their website as part of a new driver package.

Choose Mac OS and you'll see the new 2.0 driver package for Novatel.

In my nightly rss feed reading of macupdate, (yeah, on Christmas eve-sick) I just noticed this. The EULA disclaimer scared me away, as it didn't let me know anything about *where* the disclosed location data was going. So I haven't even seen it in action yet. Not only that, there was no information concerning whether or not the location would continue to be disclosed after the app closed. For example, does quitting the app cause location information to cease being sent to others than Sprint?

That's probably a question for them, but thought I'd throw it out there.

Not that I have anything to hide, but I would have thought that they would have been more forthcoming.

Happy Seasonings! Smile

Have 15" Aluminum PowerBook G4 1.5GHz with OSX 10.3.9. Verizon Kyocera KPC650 has worked very well for last several years. Upgraded to Leopard with Archive and Install. KPC650 no longer works. Symptom is that there is no signal strength. Power On/Off Icon shows up in bar. Booted from external backup and in 10.3.9, "About this Mac" shows 100+ dB. Booting from Leopard shows 0 dB. So it doesn't appear to be a VZAccess issue. Folks at Verizon very courteous but couldn't resolve. Any suggestions? Do I need to change cards? Any suggestions on PC cards known to work with my configuration?

Is U727 the only USB EVDO card that doesn't show signal, or does the CDU-680 have problems also?

Concerned about stuff being sent secretely from your Mac. Download Little Snitch 2.0 and you'll never sleep peacefully again... Cool

Apple is probably engaged in 100,000,000 phone homes per hour...

Was not able to get VZAccess to work. However card works fine using Leopards selection of Novatel and CDMA as the WWAN selection. Download speeds are in the 600K+ range as I was getting previously.

I have been lurking in these forums for a while but I am finally posting Smile

I installed Leopard (upgrade) on my MacBook last night.

I had no problems and my Sierra Wireless 595U (USB) worked perfectly with the native drivers.

I have Sprint for service.

Hi! I found your forum while troubleshooting... I see other posts indicating others with PowerBooks are using Verizon's broadband service (which I just purchased). I can't get mine to work on my PowerBook (although on my MacBook it works just fine). My PB can't connect to the device, and Apple's tech support notes say that the WWAN update is for Intel units only, not PowerPC, so I figure that must be the problem

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, if I'm doing something wrong...

I have the Verizon UM150 USB modem, and I'm just upgrading to Leopard 10.5, hoping that will help...

Thanks!
