V740 Revision A works with a Macbook Pro under OS X.5 using Verizon Access Manager Version 3.3.1 build 1533c. OS X.5 was installed as an upgrade.

Verizon Access Manager is now at 3.7.
You can get it if you log into your account at verizonwireless support.

Those of you running Verizon Access Manager - what do you see the advantages of that are, given that OS X provides native WWAN support?

does anyone know how to get the wwan icon to show up in leopard using a PowerBook g4. I hears it was intel only. Any suggestions on bypassing going to system preferences everytime to connect/dissconnect?

I have recently done a erase and install of Leopard (due to significant problems doing a archive & install), and once I got everything set up and running, I now get a prompt for a password whenever I go to connect.

I don't have to enter a password, just hit enter without entering anything, but it's still annoying. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a solution to eliminating this?

I have a MPB 2.16 core duo with a Verizon 640 express card.

System Preferences:Network:ppp

I don't have Leopard but in 10.4 there is a checkbox for Save Password.

I'm trying to set up the network connection for a Novatel card on Verizon.

I have the dial string (#777) and the account, but not the password - don't recall ever setting it. Anybody know if there is a default password?

Thanks!

I am attempting to install a Verizon USB727 card on my MBP.
It's a 17" MBP 2.33 w/ 3GB ram
I did the erase & install Leopard installation.

I plugged it in to the USB port & nothing...
No native drivers in 10.5 for this USB727?

I called Apple tech support & they recommended WWAN update. (for 10.4)
I downloaded & tried to install, but it said it was not for this version. (10.5)

I called Verizon.
They only support use with VZaccess, not using native OS drivers.

Am I missing something?
Did the people who got this card to work do Leopard upgrades, and an erase & install wont work?

Do I have no choice of running from OS & need to run VZaccess manager?

I used the novatel , cdma config. not the sprint cdma config.

this worked for me.

Thank you.

Tried that and it didn't seem to make a difference. Not sure if that's the real issue. When I manage the connection in Network Preferences, the system appears to be treating it as a regular modem - rather than the antenna and bars icon that others see, I'm getting a phone handset. I don't have any of the EVDO options on the menu either.

I'd much rather be using the native WWAN support in the OS, but it looks like I'll have to stick with the VZ Access Manager for the time being.

Find someone with Tiger 10.4.8 or higher installed, go to Library/Modem Scripts and copy the WWAN file from there to Leo's Library/Modem Scripts and reconfigure.

[quote="Michael"]By the way, if anyone does some early reporting on success/failure, please include:

- did you do a clean install of Mac OS X 10.5 or an upgrade (<- very important)

- Make & Model Mac you used

- Card tested

- Used Native 10.5 WWAN drivers or Verizon VZAccess Manager version or manufacturer connection software.[/quote

Success!

Performed "Upgrade" of OS X 10.5 over a 10.4.10 -with no problems.
MacBook Pro 15", 2.16 GHz intel Core Duo (Model A1150 -early 2006)
Sprint (Novatel) EX720 with firmware 145 and prl 60610

I was previously using Mac Drivers v1.8 download from Sprint.com which worked fine under OS X 10.4.10... after Leopard update, all configurations seemed to be gone but upon inserting card for first time under Leopard, OS recognized the card and allowed me to configure the built-in WWAN drivers with my phone number, userID and password. Card fires up just fine now under the WWAN drivers. Performance seems as good as before and signal strength is 4 of 5 bars... as it was before the upgrade.

Sprint never has had a Connection Manager for the Macintosh platform like they do for Win XP/Vista but as long as I don't have to upgrade firmware, prl or the GPS services, I get very good internet connectivity on my MBP from every major metropolitan area that I've traveled to recently.

I can't get the usb727 to be recognized either by Leopard natively. I have to use vzaccess which is providing not so good download rates.

For what it's worth... I'm also using a Sprint EX720 and with no problems...

I am also using the (Advanced) WWAN settings for Novatel, CDMA config -not Sprint.
