so how do u get the wwan icon to show up in the menubar?
Sprint u720 works after I came here and seen the correct setup instructions, I was trying to use the normal dialup modem setup with the u720 and it was frustrating me why it wasn't working.
Im glad apple added wwan support into 10.5 |

I recently upgraded to leopard, and well although I am using my EVDO card right now, i have to uninstall it and reinstall it after i eject to get it to work. It worked great with Tiger, any ideas. I am using the Sierra + CDMA settings.
It comes up after ejecting, and reinserting "Device not present" or something to that effect.
Thanks

I originally was getting a similar error message, Shawn. Try going into Network Preferences, deleting the profile(s) associated with your Sierra card, and then re-booting your machine - your machine should detect the card and build a new profile. Mine has worked fine after that.

Did a fresh install of Leopard over the weekend, and finally got the chance to work on getting the Sprint U720 working. Plugged it in, and it worked fine with no drivers or additional work.
The only thing that seems a little weird is that the speed is significantly down from where things were on Tiger. Tonight, I'm getting 360k/60k (D/U), and that's way, way down from what I was seeing with Tiger.
The only thing that seems to be obvious is that I only have three bars. With Tiger and my previous configuration, I'd typically see five bars. Of course, I don't know if the bars are the same between Tiger and Leopard.
More experiments tomorrow when I'm a lot closer to the towers. |

Guess it was just a bad patch of cell packets -- at one bar (in the basement), it's more like 700k/100k, which is a little more like it from the depths of my home office.
Guess that's good news... |

Fantastic and easy. I have my Sprint EX720 running with ease on my MacBook Pro and with the usb adapter on my G5. My husband has his Aircard 595U up and running on his G4 Powerbook and I have also used that on my MacBook ProAirCard 595U USB. All is well. This has finally prompted him to upgrade and his new MacBook will arrive later this week!
I just had my highest download speed ever, virtually the same, twice in a row: 1768 down and 439 up (up has been higher in the past, though).
And Leopard is even more fun and more productive than I had imagined.
Terrific!

Successful upgrade to OS X 10.5:
Powerbook G4 17" 1.33 with 1 gig ram
Verizon AudioVox PC5750
VZAccess Manager v3.7.0 (build 1849f)
Works without problem - slightly better signal strength...
No signal strength bars in desktop menu bar - hmmm, any suggestions? |

I have a Sierra 595 USB card from EVDOinfo bought with Sprint service. It worked on Tiger without any additional software. Where did you get the "Sierra Wireless Watcher 1.1.1"? Upgraded to Leopard and the card no longer works. I have no idea what my account settings are. The original Sierra card came configured by EVDOinfo store all set up and I don't remember entering any username or password or modem settings.
What do I have to do to make the card work with Leopard?
TIA
Charles

I am having a problem with my EX720. When I try to connect to my Macbook Pro 2.4, it says that there is no modem number defined. I'm on Sprint and it worked fine before my upgrade to Leopard.
I did an archive and install. |

Start a support ticket by sending an email to support at 3Gstore dot com. Be sure to include what you purchased from us, when (invoice number, if you have it). _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

Michael, thanks. The previous posting gave me the clue I needed. I downloaded the Sierra Wireless Watcher app and ran it in Leopard and it must have installed the driver needed. For some reason, I don't remember having to install that on Tiger and it worked. Without the Sierra Wireless Watcher app, Leopard tells me it cannot detect the hardware even though the USB modem is plugged in. Once I installed the app and launch it, everything worked.
Thanks for maintaining this forum.

Ok, do anyone else use this card with a leopard system yet?
I just want to know if it is working for anyone else, and what they are doing for set up?
Mine works til I eject. After I put it back in later, I get the "Selectec communications device does not exist, check you settings and try again. I delete the pantech USB modem, and set it up again, and it works.
It's like leopard is forgetting that I had it installed. |

I did an archive and install. |
An archive and install creates a folder on the desktop and stores everything not in your user folders (not sure about applications they may remain where they are) in that folder and then creates everything fresh, including preferences. So, you have to reset your preferences including entering the phone number in the PPP tab after clicking the configure button.
Sometimes the preferences can be dragged from the archive folder into the new install folder but since this is a new OS this might not work perfectly. |
