I recently got a Pantech PX-500 card and a Linksys Wireless G router WRT54G3G-ST from Sprint. I have activated the card on my sisters laptop as our home PC doesnt have a slot for it. Now I am trying to load the Linksys software on to the PC. When I start it up, I have 3 choices...
- mobile broadband service only
- broadband WAN service only
- broadband WAN and mobile broadband service
I am not sure which one I need to choose. It will be for our home which I hope to make some computers wireless if they get an okay signal (may need to hardwire the one in the basement). Any help? I choose the broadband WAN and mobile broadband one, but after it loads a couple pages it asks me for an IP address. I am not sure what that is or how I get it. Or if that is even the choice I need. Sorry if the quetions been asked before, I am new to this whole computer stuff. Thanks a lot!! |

No software needed. Your wasting resources if you loaded any Connect software. Thats only needed if you use the card in a PC. It's moot when in a router.
Just open up your web browser and go to http://192.168.1.1 pass word is admin No need for a username but if it asks use admin also.
Change that password once in the admin web interface!!!!!
The setup via the web interface is about as easy as it comes, so change the admin password and setup a wireless security also. I use WPA Personal with AES because some older broadcom wireles cards even with XP SP2 will not do WAP2 AES. _________________ A simple man. |

| Now I think I got that set, but am trying to get the laptop wireless and am having problems. I go to a wireless network connection screen and see the linksys and click connect, it starts to load it, but then says error, and that the network may not be in range. The laptop is right next to the router. Any help or am I going at it wrong? |

I see that alot when I was using WPA2 w/AES here at home and with wireless access points I manage at work. Using WPA (WPA1) w/AES never a problem.
If your having some wireless issues after connecting you may change the channel from the default of 6 to 11 and see if it helps. _________________ A simple man. |
