I'm actually amazed this works. I got my laptop back from Dell yesterday after sending it back to them for a new system board, picked up a new PC5740 at the Verizon store, plugged it in, and it worked right off the bat! In fact, I'm posting with it right now.

BTW, I was the one who made that post at Expert's Exchange that Michael linked to...apparently Dell technicians are better than I expected (either that or I was lucky).

Was that a Sierra PC5220 or a Audiovox PC5740?

Did it NOT work before, and then Dell repaired your motherboard and all is well now?

Oops, didn't notice that typo. Yes, both times it was a 5740. After the first failure I sent the laptop to Dell, they replaced the MB, I bought a new 5740 and it worked.

BTW, I wasn't expecting it to work; I got the 5740 for my wife's 700m, and I figured I'd try it in my 6000 just for the hell of it.

Hey there Steve,

How has the overall performance of the PC5740 been for you? what kind of speeds are you getting out of it in a good broadbandaccess location?

Thanks!

Hi Steve/WDWGuy,

Unfortunately, I can't really answer this question for you - I decided to return the PC5740 card and get the Novatel card instead. I didn't keep the Audiovox card long enough to do any serious testing, although the results of speed tests in my office in Times Square have been fairly comparable between the two.
