I get the same issue too. A bit annoying, won't wake up once dormant either.

Its not just the KPC-680, Its alltel in general! I have been getting kicked off all day and its a P.I.T.A as I'm trying to set up Vista in my computer! i am using KR1 with a KPC-650. I don't think it is the card.

on my hp pavillion and the 680, and they are waiting on a fix from ricoh.
who knows..maybe thats what it is...for now that doesnt make mine

resolve Disable Dormant Mode
The Kyocera Passport Card can be stopped from going dormant by applying the following at command to that modem.

1. Start
2. Control Panel (Classic View)
3. Phone and Modem Options
4.Modems Tab
5.Right click on the modem
6.Properties
7.Advanced
8.Enter at+cta=0 into the "Extra initialization commands" box

damauli, with vista home premium, there is no modems tab! Left or right click will only get you location information.

Hi Capt. Dan. Hope you're doing great this morning. Apparently damauli joined the forum Thursday night and went through and resurrected half dozen old threads! Not only resurrected them but in some cases posted incomplete, erroneous information. Anyway, I guess my point is we just need to look at the source sometimes. Have a great Saturday!

I've had this issue pretty much since day one. Ive spent countless amount of hours with tech support regarding the issue and to no avail. I actually took the thing back while I was under my trial period. The guy at the store said hey its the card here have another one. Sure enough this does it just the same thing. It has to be an alltel glitch as it is extremely inconsistent. Some days it comes out of dormancy just fine , others I have to reset the card. I can say I've had maybe 2 days that the thing worked like i felt it should. All others Ive spent pulling my hair out. I was hoping the server updates at the end of October would solve it .. nope

Very disappointed in my service and plan to get plenty of credit.. Very Happy

vista does have that option to put extra initialization command. just input the area code and it will let you click the modem TAB.

For Bigdave i am not sure what erroneous information I posted. could you please elaborate the statement.

My carfd never really work but I kept trying to make it work and it never did. I wanted my money back but I was over the trail period so I am bascially stuck. I called the tech serivce and have spent over 10 hrs on the phone and nothing has worked. It sucks!! I even tried to download the mircosoft patch and it still dont work. I have Vista on my computer. Alltel just come out and say that ur cards are not compatible to vista. If anyone has any suggustions please leave me a reply.

Thanks, Courtney Crying or Very sad
