Dlink DIR-450 advanced features don't seem to work

To begin with I have been unable to get the firewall to work.
Or perhaps I should say the Firewall seems to work too well, since
I have been unable to open ports using UPNP, Port Forwarding, Virtual Server, or any other method other than the DMZ. I am beginning to think DLINK has not tested this box at all.

When I run ShieldsUp it randomly reports some open ports but not the ones I am trying to open. My older dlink routers consistantly give me ther results I would expect.

When I try to use UPNP devices (cameras and NASs) the router occassionally seems to forget all of its settings.

Other features not working or partially working:

1 DynDns works some of the time but not all IP address changes seem to get reported
2 Disable wan ping response sometimes works but not always.
3 NTP time server support does not work most of the time
4 the log files don't support logging intrusion attempts or most of the usefule log settings from other dlink routers and the router ui gets slower and slower the longer the log is on.
5 Super G settings seem to come and go in the ui and the setting to change the desired Channel is always greyed out (and on channel 1).

As to what works well -- seems to keep my U720 connected to sprint reliably and the DHCP and wireless seems to work with eitehr WEP or WPA reliably.
