I have noticed that email that usually takes seconds to show up on my BlackBerry 8830 is taking hours to display. I know the problem isn't on our end, as I can see the email leaving my mail server. I called Victor in our company who also is seeing the same issues.
In digging around the internet, it looks like RIM is experiencing an outage today that is affecting T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon and AT&T. We have Sprint BlackBerry 8830's and can confirm that there is a problem.
Here is what RIM has said:

RIM continues to investigate the matter. Service for BlackBerry Enterprise Server customers was not impacted. RIM apologizes to customers for any inconvenience.”
