Like several other folks round these parts, I'm on the road a lot in a motorhome, and I purchased a KR1 a little more than a month ago so my wife and I could share our Verizon BroadbandAccess service with our PC5740 card and 2 laptops running Windows XP.
Works OK, I guess, but it's awfully unstable. It ranges from bearable (automatically resets itself every hour or so) to maddening (must get up, cycle power to rest every 5-15 min or so at times). Put the card directly in either one of our laptops and the sucker works like a charm -- no drops, resets, or timeouts.
Can't make heads or tails of why or when. I've been in lots of EVDO and 1x markets over the last month -- Seattle, Portland, Boise, and lots of little burgs in between. I'll be in Montana next; then South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, all the way down thru Texas, then home to SoCal. I guess I'll get to take the KR1 Pepsi Challenge through the entire Western US!
I read through umpteen threads searching for feasible solutions, learned a bit, but didn't see an answer specific to my situation. Before I subject myself to phone tech support hell, I thought I'd post my experience here in the hopes that someone with a similar experience and hardware might have some insight. Or at the least, my weighing provides more evidence for these types of problems. Any suggestions? Thanks. |

I also travel in a motorhome and have been a fulltimer the last eight years. I use a Sprint Merlin S720 air card, a Booster Antenna, Wilson 3-watt amplifier and a Kyocera KR1 router. Since May I have camped in over 50 places in more than a dozen states and I am amazed with the performance of my set up. So far I have never had a disconnect or any hang up problems.
At this moment I'm in Goshen, Indiana, a 1RTT area, and there are four laptops connected to my router and all are working great. It seems since I bought the WiFi I have a lot of friends who love to camp by me. |

I assume you mean 5750, right?
Have you seen this thread about compatibility:

Maybe this could help. |
