are you sure about the 5750 and kr1? the latest that i read on this forum, there are problems using it with the wireless enabled on the kr1.

I've heard of this, but I've heard it's inconsistent. I thought I was having the same problem with the d-link Dir-450, but I think my issues were due to Alltel telling me the wrong tower to point my directional antenna to. The D-Link and the KR1 are similar hardware (KR1 is actually made by d-link).

I was more referring to compatibility with the router.

Supposedly there are physical size limitations when using an adapter in a router. This is just what I have read, since I don't have one. Smile

I hadn't heard, or seen, that.
What physical limitations are there?

(I am thinking of getting a KPC680 when Rev A comes to Lynchburg, VA)

Thanks for any info you have.

Question for Karlyn or Suasion. I just received the Linksys router and are using a PC5750. I've noticed that Alltel's QuickLink Mobile software doesn't work with or detect the PC5750. When I get into Linksys setup, it's calling a Sprint network. I have v200.9 firmware in place and my data card as been updated to Rev A with the PRL being 40020. I originally tried setting the router up using a desktop but couldn't anywhere since it had no way of recognizing the card. The laptop is presently online with wifi and the desktop is tethered with a LAN. Thanks for any help. Question Very Happy Very Happy

hi Big Twin,

It's normal for the router to say it's on the Sprint network; "Sprint" is hardcoded in the firmware since Linksys produced this router for Sprint. Just ignore it -- you're really connected to Alltel's network.

Do you mean the QLM software won't recognize the PC5750 once the card is in the router? That's normal, too. You don't need QLM once the card is in the router since all your connection information was stored on the card when you activated it in the laptop. The only time you will need QLM is when you have the card in your laptop.

Sounds like you have it working -- Cool !

Thanks for the reply. I shut it down last night. It takes a few minutes for the
router to find the card. There's some features I miss on the QLM but I'm getting an "Excellent" signal when I check the router status. I haven't noticed any difference in download or upload speeds. (REV 0). Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Since people are having so much trouble with the KPC680 and sled combo -
wouldn't it be better to return the KPC680's and get a PC5750?

Has anyone tried this?
Are your download speeds the same as the KPC680 in the laptop?

I have a quesion regarding the use of, say the D-Link DIR-450 with a KPC650, vs. using a PCI/PCMCIA adapter with the KPC650 in a Windows box configured as a router or ICS serving as the network gateway to facilitate Internet connectivity for the rest of the network. This is my current configuration and I am still using the QLM software to control the card.

Is there a definitive advantage in performance or some other factor that makes the router a better solution? My current performance is pretty good in this configuration when there are no issues with the Alltel network.

Also, when using the router do you just restart it every 12 hours when there is a disconnect since the QLM software no longer controls the card?

Thanks
