Does anyone know of any "Next Gen" EVDO PCMCIA card that will be coming out in the next 6-12 months?

Worked with no problem. I'm also sharing the connection over a wired network without too much trouble.

I have installed SIIG PC to PCMCIA that I bought from Microcenter or Fry's, for $39.99 it's working very good from the first time.
I have the Kyocera EV-DO card, and I just have ordered the external Antenna from VZW for $19.99 to boost signal since the card location is in the bottom of my PC next to lot of electrical components that my create interference.
The only bad thing is if you need to remove the card, you have to reach to the back of your PC, hopefully Kyocera router will be in the market soon
unless someone knows any external PCMCIA reader you can buy? |

I recently picked up:
SIIG PCI -TO-PC CARD ADAPTER PRO - JJ-PC0012 - Fry's Elec $40
*noticed that walmart online sells this thing. Not sure about main store.
Merlin S620 AirCard
Works perfectly fine without a single problem.
Homebuilt system:
ECS N2U400A - Motherboard
Windows XP SP2
also just picked up a antenna from booster-antenna.com because i am "signal challenged". So i should posting in forums again, hopefully with much praise. |

My SIIG PCI-PC Card adapter works like a charm. I use it for more than just the EVDO card. You can plug virtually any PCcard in there and it works perfectly. I love it! I bought it online at www.siig.com and go to their online store link.
Thanks,

I truly got lucky. Not having any idea what I was getting into when I purchased a PCI-PCMCIA card for my desktop, I purchased a non labeled card with the Texas Instruments PCI-1410 cardbus controller chip set.
using price and gut instinct for my decision making process. I picked the card up for 15.00 from Ebay. Like I said, I got lucky. It works fine with the PC5740 card, except, I sometimes have to unplug the card and run the Wizard again.
However, the desktop adapter causes the antenna to face down, so,I have my desktop PC sitting upside down on my desk. Sure makes it hard to play my Shania CD's
I Just bought a KPC650 card, but I can't get it to work at all. When I plug it in, I get the "remove it safely" icon, but the PnP does not even see the card to load the drivers. Now I need to take the card into VZW and have them test and see if it's the card, or my hardware.
Anyone else have any issies using a KPC650 with a PCi-PCMCIA adapter?
Thanx in advance. |

- PCI card that you used
I bought the SIIG card, direct from SIIG, for $49.99
http://www.siig.com/product.asp?pid=953
- did it work, or did it not work
Worked perfectly with my Sierra PC5220
- what PC make & model, OS, etc.
Custom build, WinXP Pro
- if you are running a build your own, include your motherboard used

Anyone using the adapters for National Access as well?
I have a bad phone line (about 21K) and cannot get any high speed connection from VZ (not even ISDN). I am looking at this wireless for my home PC.
Also what network card is best of VZ (are there any that support an external antenna).
Hope this is the right place to post this.
Thanks in advance. |

I use my aircard for both EVDO and NA. We travel in our motorhome and, when gone, rarely stay in areas that have EVDO. The card automatically then reverts to NA. I use it with EVDO at home.
I use the Novatel V620 card specifically because it has an external antenna port. I also use an inline amplifier with the external antenna because I cannot maintain an EVDO signal (it drops to NA frequently) without the antenna and amp.

Looking for soome help with this. Anybody know of a front (bay mount) PCI or external (USB) adapter that will support the Sierra 580? I was told that since it's a 32 bit card that most of the bay mount and usb versions will not work with it... anyone?

| Bought the SYBA card Newegg. New home built system Dual Athalon 64 with the MSI K8N NE04 SLI board. Card worked fine with the 5740 then I took that back deleted all drivers and got the 620 and reinstalled (so I could use the KR1 router). Worked fine with it also. Sprint- and set up was a breeze. Fresh install windows home XP. |
