| Thanks for the update. I wish Alltel could just correct the congestion problems. I know that takes money, but they are selling data service, and should be prepared to properly remedy any problems should they arise. |

| Anyone have any updates or ways around this issue? Does the openwrt firmware for the Linksys have a way to auto-reboot the router every xx hours? |

| What about a script that just reboots the router every 12 hours? |

I had mine disconect last night as well. If this becomes an issue, here is a VERY simple fix.
Get a plug-in timer and feed your router with it. Set it to turn OFF the router at times during the night when you are not using it. The same for daytime. All you need it to do is turn off 3 times a day for a minute or 2.
When it comes back on, you are good to go.

I don't know how to do that with the KR1.....but somebody may know how to do that....
Here is a better fix....have Alltel get their heads out of their backsides and KNOCK IT OFF!!!

Thought about doing that.. I am running a PC5750 in a Linksys WRT54G3G-ST I have made the jump and am using the openWRT firmware on it. So far it has been excellent (except for the 12 hr disconnect).
Let me know if you set that up how it works for you. |

In Tucson, We have different things at different times. Most times it is in evenings and [I'm guessing], multiple disconnects. Other times maybe one disconnect. Sounds like a congestion problem to me. Some days it will go and go and then out of the blue I get cut, sometimes once or more than once. My router trys to reconnect but the card starts up and see the blinking blue light and then it goes on solid,[KPC-650]. I unplug for 10 seconds and plug back in and restart. No Pattern to it other than evenings. Seems to do the same in computer but with it in the computer it will restart and run ok. I have tried the support at Kyocera and I would rather lay down on I-10 and let the trucks smash me into the pavement than try them!! Once I actually got a person that sounded like he was from the states the rest of the time I get someone who has about 20 marbles in there mouth at the same time they are trying to talk...You should know by now what I mean!! Not putting another country down but come on, T a l k S l o w e r!!!!! Just got bumped off and I have been on-line about two hours!!!! Go figure!! |

| Alltel is one strange bird. I am having excruciatingly slow speeds the past week or so (except for the Rev A uploads I mentioned in another thread) but I have NEVER had the disconnect problem. Note, I am still running the old PC5740 in a KR1 but it stays on for days at a time. Virtually never disconnects unless I disconnect it. Right now it's actually running in an older laptop and has been connected for over 300 hours. Maybe the older cards don't suffer from this problem? Makes me not want to upgrade when I am FINALLY eligible! |

Yeah, I don't know about the problems with Alltel but I found out I'm on a Sprint tower here in Tucson. I have good speeds but the disconnects happen if I am on two hours or twelve! Maybe Alltel should try that with Sprint customers once!! Bet Sprint would be all over them!! I'm tired of calling then and not getting any new answers! I'm not renewing anything until they get some of the bugs out of this system. |

| If you have simple IP connections most of the carrier have set time to disconnect the connection to refresh the IP pool . In order to keep connection all the time you have to have mobile IP. |
