Hi people:

Just to report that I ordered the PC5220 Card about a month ago. It was awesome. It worked right out of the box. Literally just inserted the card and boom, the menu appeared and it was working. Just clicked on connect.

My report on the coverage so far:

Miami: Full EVDO coverage pretty much all over the city (pulling Google maps while looking up addresses--someone else was driving even in Kendall, Coral Gables and South Beach).

New York City: full EVDO coverage, occasional drops to RTTx1, never without a connection though. Midtown, downtown great EVDO, higher floors of my hotel, occasional drops to RTTx1, but mostly EVDO. The Bronx, Upper Manhattan, I believe I had RTTx1 and the occasional EVDO

Los Angeles: EVDO in select areas and occasional drops to RTTx1. Keep in mind I was not just in downtown, but in Compton, Downey, Southgate, etc.

San Fran: No EVDO, but decent RTTx1. Not rolled out there yet.

Sonoma County: (in the middle of nowhere) and I got a decent signal (not broadband, but much better than dialup).

Carlsbad, CA: full EVDO

San Diego Rancho Bernardo: EVDO with some drops to RTTx1

So basically, I've tested it and it has not let me down. I feel confident that I can travel and will always have at least RTTx1 which I feel is about 100kb/sec maybe a little less and still better than using my laptop to dial via my bluetooth phone on cingular which charges by kilobyte.

I'll be traveling to Tahiti in a few weeks and my understanding is that I won't be able to use the card. I know Verizon service won't probably work, but perhaps I might be able to connect via another provider in other countries (e.g. signing up for service and giving them my card ID as the device I will be using).
